EXPERIENCE PROFILE
Mr. Niedermann’s 25 years of experience as project manager and project engineer have included all phases
of transportation and bridge projects including design, repair, planning and construction phase assignments.
His transportation design assignments include serving as the overall project manager for roadway
realignment projects and developing traffic control plans and roadway plans on bridge replacement
projects. Mr. Niedermann’s bridge design experience includes continuous steel girder bridges, cast-inplace flat slab bridges, precast double-tee and precast flat slab bridges with transverse post-tensioning, FIB
girder bridges, steel and concrete pedestrian bridges, post-tensioned substructure units and various bridge
load ratings. Repair assignments have included determining necessary repairs for bascule bridges and
developing repair details. Construction assignments have included Specialty Engineer services, Value
Engineering Change Proposal (VECP) designs, and structural field inspections on bridge projects. Other
assignments have included retaining wall design, bridge barrier rail replacements, soil anchored sheet pile
wall design, box culvert design, drainage structure design, mast arm design, and sign structure design. Mr.
Niedermann has served as Project Engineer or Project Manager for the design of over 135 bridge sites for
the FDOT, Expressway Authorities and public agencies. His experience includes design-build projects and
traditional design-bid-build projects.
REPRESENTATIVE PROJECTS
SR 417 Curved Girder Erection Scheme, FDOT District Five, Seminole County, Florida – Mr.
Niedermann served as the Engineer Of Record (EOR) of the erection scheme for a heavily curved steel
bridge for the contractor as part of the SR 417/International Parkway Interchange near Sanford, FL. Mark
supervised the design of five separate steel girder design models to analyze the stresses for each pair of
girders during the erection and the deck pour. He designed the temporary towers to ensure the girders
would not be overstressed, provide better stability during the incremental erection steps, and to control the
deflections to allow for better fit-up of the cross bracing. The bridge included a 200' span with a 45 degree
skew and a radius of 500 feet.
PGA Blvd. Over Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise, Palm Beach County, Florida – Mr. Niedermann
serves as the QA/QC Officer for this ramp bridge replacement project. The project consists of dual
unsymmetrical spans over the Turnpike. His responsibilities include review of the design of prestressed
girders, geometry, slabs, pier and end bent designs along with the design of temporary critical sheet pile
wall systems using a king pile wall type in accordance with the newly prescribed FDOT LRFD method.
The bridge is a 90 degree 245 foot long structure with use of Florida I-Beam girders founded on an
intermediate pier and two end bents.
Rum Road Over Parrot Creek, FDOT District Three, Holmes County, Florida – Mr. Niedermann
served as the QA/QC officer for this emergency, fast track, off-system bridge replacement project in rural
Holmes County in which the existing Timber Structure was washed out by flooding. The bridge is a 160'-0"
long, 4-span cast-in-place flat slab on pile bent supports over Parrot Creek.

Jupiter Blvd. over C-37 Canal, City of Palm Bay – This project included the replacement of an existing
two lane bridge with a four lane bridge with sidewalks and decorative barriers. The approach slab was
curved on one side to incorporate the turn radius from an immediately adjacent intersection. The structure
consisted of precast flat slab panels with three 42’ spans. The project included phased construction with
temporary sheet pile walls. The project also included mast arm signal structures. Mr. Niedermann served
as the Engineer of Record and performed all quality control reviews on this project.
SR 91 Over CR 561 Emergency Repairs Design Build, Florida's Turnpike Enterprise, Lake County,
Florida – On this emergency fast track project, Mr. Niedermann served as the Engineer of Record for the
design of the superstructure replacement. This bridge sustained extensive fire damage to the center span
superstructure. He was responsible for the design of slabs, bearings, details and independent design of
prestressed AASHTO beams. Mr. Niedermann also coordinated with the contractor Cone and Graham,
Turnpike Enterprise and various fabricators and subconsultants to collaboratively have the bridge open to
traffic in a staggering 10 days from notice to proceed. This was 1 week ahead of schedule.
CR 245 Over Olustee Creek, FDOT District Two, Union/Columbia County, Florida – Mr. Niedermann
served as the QA/QC officer for this Design Build bridge replacement project with Leware Construction
Company. The project consisted of 6 spans over Olustee Creek in Columbia County, Florida. His
responsibilities included QA/QC review of the design of FIB-36 prestressed girders, geometry, slabs, load
rating and bent designs along with the analysis of a temporary work bridge and crane lifts. The bridge is a
90 degree 450 foot long structure with FIB 36 girders founded on 24" prestressed concrete piling.
Oakridge Road Over Florida’s Turnpike Bridge Replacement, Orange County – This project included
the redesign of the bridge to change the construction from three phases to two phases. The project included
an innovative temporary sidewalk that was attached to the exterior bridge beams to maintain pedestrian
traffic at all times. The design included anchored temporary sheet pile and a box culvert extension. Mr.
Niedermann served as the Project Manager and performed all quality control reviews on this project.
Indian River Resurfacing on Florida’s Turnpike, Indian River County, Florida – This project
consisted of resurfacing the mainline of the Turnpike in Indian River County. Acting as a Miscellaneous
Design Structures subconsultant, Mr. Niedermann was responsible for QA/QC of the design of box culvert
repair details for four box culverts. In addition, expansion joint details were prepared for this project. Mr.
Niedermann served as the structures project manager and Quality Review Professional for this project.
I-4 / SR 46 Interchange Improvements, Seminole County, Florida – This project included the design of
two long span DMS sign trusses over I-4 for FDOT D-5. The trusses were analyzed for fatigue loads and
required separate 3-D modeling for the full wind case and the fatigue design cases. The project also
included the design of catwalks and hanging the signs from the back tri-chord. Mr. Niedermann served as
the EOR and performed the design.
Various ITS Structures, Florida – These projects included the design of numerous types of ITS structures
throughout the State. The structure types included CCTV, DMS overhead sign structures, RWIS, ATMS,
etc. Mr. Niedermann’s roles included performing QA/QC reviews or serving as the Structural Engineer of
Record for the various projects. The structures were evaluated for serviceability, vibration and fatigue
concerns among others.
Pedestrian Bridge Over Southside Boulevard, Duval County, Florida – This 200 LF steel truss bridge
was designed as a safety improvement near an elementary school on Ivey Lane in Jacksonville. The project
was constructed on drilled shafts in order to reduce vibration impacts to adjacent houses and to minimize
utility impacts. The project included ADA compliant approach ramps, signalization, right of way plans and
landscape plans. The project was designed for FDOT District 2. Mr. Niedermann was the Structural
Engineer of Record and developed the Traffic Control Concept.

Boggy Creek Road at Jim Branch Box Culvert, Osceola County, Florida – This project included a box
culvert extension and cracked culvert settlement repair for Osceola County, FL. Mr. Niedermann was the
Structures Engineer of Record for this project. The cracks in the triple 8ft x 5ft culvert were repaired with
shotcrete and epoxy injection. The roadway settlement and cracking was remedied by the injection of
polyurethane to fill the voids and densify the surrounding soils.
SR 10 (US 90) Roadway Re-alignment and Bridge Replacement, Madison County, Florida – This
project included the re-alignment of ¾ miles of rural high speed roadway and the replacement of the bridge
over the Seaboard Coastline Railroad. The project included utility coordination with relocation, right of
way mapping and acquisition, environmental permitting, railroad coordination, traffic control plans and
bridge design. Mr. Niedermann served as the overall Project Manager on this project for FDOT District 2.
Suncoast Parkway (SR 589) Section 5, Hernando County, Florida – This project included three bridge
sites (SR 50, Highfield Road and North Industrial Road). The bridge over SR 50 was a 175’ weathering
steel plate girder bridge. The other two bridges utilized AASHTO beam superstructures. Mr. Niedermann
was the Engineer of Record for all three bridges.
Lakeland In-Town Bypass Over CSX Railroad and Florida Tile Property, Polk County, Florida –
This project involved a new roadway alignment that crossed several tracks of the CSX Railroad and the
Florida Tile manufacturing facility. The steel girder bridge consisted of three spans (240-178-156) with a
total bridge length of 574 feet. The spans were unbalanced due to the geometry of the railroad and the
Florida Tile property. The nature of the tile manufacturing facility required a vibration sensitive design and
significant coordination with the property owners. Mr. Niedermann served as the Structures Project
Manager and was responsible for the design of the continuous steel girders.
Various Bridge Load Ratings – These bridge load ratings encompassed flat slab bridges (cast in place and
precast), AASHTO beam bridges and structural steel bridges. These projects included several bridges over
I-95 that are to receive bridge barrier retrofits, SR 600 over Tomoka River, Suncoast Parkway over SR 50
and two other local roads, Dodd Road over Howell Creek and Reunion Resort Drive over I-4. Mr.
Niedermann has performed bridge load ratings using LRFR and LFD design methodologies.
Little Econ Pedestrian Bridges, Orange County, Florida – This project was a Value Engineering
Change Proposal (VECP) with Southland Construction, Inc. The project was a redesign that consisted of
precast double tee beams with a concrete overlay. The foundations ranged from shallow spread footings to
driven steel H piles. The project included three bridges up to 800 LF in length. Mr. Niedermann was the
Structural Engineer of Record.
Various Construction Related Engineering Projects – Mr. Niedermann’s construction-related
experience includes Value Engineering Change Proposal (VECP) designs, curved girder erection plans,
analysis of out of tolerance piles, repair procedures for cracks and spalls, sheet pile redesign, crane loading
analysis on bridges and sheet pile walls, bridge deck overhang forming design, temporary bracing for
concrete beams, screed rail profile and SIP form elevation calculations, and other general structural
analysis such as evaluation of out of tolerance bridge deck thickness (either too thick or too thin).
