William H. Crawford III serves as the Vice President of Student Affairs at Chandler-Gilbert
Community College. Bill Crawford, as he is more commonly known, was formerly the Dean of
Career and Technical Education at CGCC and began his employment at Chandler-Gilbert in July
2003 as an Associate Dean – progressing to Senior Associate Dean.
Vice President Crawford's experience in higher education includes serving as an Acting Vice
President of Academic Affairs, Acting Associate Dean of Instruction, Director (faculty chair) of
Mesa Community College's (MCC) Administration of Justice Studies Department, ten years as a
residential faculty member and seven years as adjunct faculty.
Prior to the Maricopa Community College District, William Crawford was employed by the
Phoenix Police Department where he held numerous leadership positions and served with
distinction for over twenty three years.
Bill is very proud of the fact that he is a product of the community college system and speaks
often to students, parents and community leaders about its impact and influence on his life. He is
passionate and dedicated to student success and the mission of the community college system in
responding to the needs of our communities and its residents.
William earned a Master of Education degree from Northern Arizona University and a Bachelor
of Science in Justice Studies from Arizona State University. He is currently a doctoral candidate
-- pursuing an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in Higher Education
Administration at Northern Arizona University.
