your parents’ sign the Class Regulations and
Grading Policy handouts. Fill out the information

Read Chapter 1. Define systemic, regional and
surface anatomy. Define Physiology. Explain
the difference between anatomy and physiology.
How are they related? How can the study of
anatomy and physiology be useful to the general
public, ie – those not involved in the health
sciences?
Answer Review and Comprehension Questions
2-6 on page 17 of your textbook. Define
negative and positive feedback mechanisms
(make sure to use terms such as receptor,
control center and effector). Give an example of
each.

and Clark Reloaded: The 3,041-Mile Bike Trail.
You will be placed in groups of four to examine
the case. Dr. Mandyck will join us tomorrow to
give a tutorial on using scientific databases to
help with our investigation of the case.
Answers to Part I will be due at the midpoint of
class on Tuesday, so each member in your
group is expected to come to class tomorrow
with some preliminary answers for Part I.
About twenty minutes of class will be given to
each group of four to discuss answers to the
Part I’s questions. Answers to Part I will be due
after twenty minutes, so each member in your
group is expected to come to class with some
preliminary answers for Part I.
Part II of the case will then be distributed to each
group and the remainder of class will be spent
learning how to access scientific databases and
then using those databases to investigate the
second part of the case. Answers to Part II of
the case will be due on Thursday.
