Directions:
1. Using the map in Chapter Three, page 42, locate and label the tribes listed below on the
outline map (Not all of the tribes on the map are listed below-look carefully!
2. Then, show the border between Coastal and Plateau tribes, and color each side a different
color.

Title and Legend
a. Center and write the title of the map (Washington State Native
American Tribes) NEATLY above the map.
b. Create a legend box that contains the following items:
1) COMPASS ROSE
2) DRAW A LINE THREE INCHES LONG. 3)
THIS WILL BE YOUR SCALE. LABEL THIS DISTANCE 100 MILES.
4) WRITE YOUR NAME ON THE BACK OF THE MAP
V. Coloring. The entire map is colored. Divide the state into Coastal and Plateau
regions using the map of page 42. Use one color for each region.
DO NOT COLOR OUTSIDE THE STATE BORDERS.
Use the following guidelines:
1) STAY WITHIN THE LINES 2) COLOR IN THE SAME DIRECTION
3) DO NOT COLOR THROUGH YOUR LABELS
4) COLOR EVENLY OR USE PROPER SHADING TECHNIQUES
5) COLOR MAP COMPLETLY
