surrounding area.

To provide efficient, comprehensive, and informative service to
patients when dealing with the business aspects of their care.
Essential Role of the Surgery Coordinator:
Schedules inpatient and outpatient surgery cases for all AWC
patients.
Standards of Excellent Performance:
Schedule all inpatient/outpatient surgical procedures. Make appropriate pre-op
and post-op appointments.
Adjust physician office schedules to coordinate with the surgical procedures
scheduled.
Complete all paperwork for each procedure and ensure that all paperwork is ready
and available at the time of the patient’s pre-op appointment.
Prepare insurance information with the needed ICD-9 and CPT codes for the
referral coordinator to obtain the benefits and authorization for the surgery.
Inform the physicians of their surgery cases at least one day prior to the scheduled
procedure.
Fax all pre-op information and lab results to the Professional Center before the
patient’s scheduled surgery date.
Assist the patient with their questions and concerns regarding the scheduled
surgical procedure. Provide literature and other resources as necessary.
Complete all disability paperwork for patients.
Serve as back-up for the maternity coordinator, GYN referrals, insurance calls
and cards, front desk, and switchboard.
Prepare monthly collection reports for the Collections Coordinator.

telephone.
Good organizational skills.
Education and Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
Previous experience or training in office procedures and/or customer service
preferred.
Ability to use basic office equipment such as telephones, computers, copiers, fax
machines, etc.
Possess the necessary tact to deal with people with professionalism and
diplomacy.
Working conditions:
Medical office environment.
Multi-task oriented position.
May require sitting for long periods of time.
May involve contact with angry, upset, or ill persons.
Must interact with patients, the general public, other office personnel, and
healthcare providers.
May require auditory and visual acuity to handle patients and family members.
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. (subject to change)
Lunch = 60 minutes. Time of lunch period determined by Team Coordinator.
Requires at least one evening per week of “late night” duties
May require occasional overtime depending on late nights, office meetings, and
patient volume.
