Introduction
We have chosen the theme about the most popular music styles
at our school because we like music and we wanted to get to know
more about the music styles our schoolmates like the most.
There are a lot of music styles in this world. We chose the definition of
a music style from www.wikipedia.org
Definition
Music Styles
Music can be divided into many genres in many different ways.
These classifications are often arbitrary and controversial, and closely
related styles often overlap. Many do not believe that generic
classification of musical styles is possible in any logically consistent
way, and also argue that doing so sets limitations and boundaries that
hinder the development of music. While no one doubts that it is
possible to note similarities between musical pieces, there are often
exceptions and caveats associated. Labeling music with genres often
do not reflect a specific culture, race, or time period. Larger genres
consist of more specific subgenres.

Hip- Hop
Hip-hop is a type of music which started in the 1970s in AfricanAmerican communities in big cities of the United States. Hip-hop uses
a style of singing called rapping. Rapping is a style of singing in which
a singer chants or says the words with a rythm and rhymes. The lyrics
(words) of hip-hop songs are oftyen about the life of African –American
people in the big cities. Some hip-hop song lyrics (words) are about
gangs, violence, and illegal drugs. Hip-hop music also uses musical
styles from pop-music such as disco and reggae.
Hip- hop as a culture involves hip-hop music as well as style of
dressing called ”urban” clothes (baggy pants, Timberland leather work
boots, and oversize shirts), an African-American dancing style called
Breakdancing or B-Boying, and a type of street art in which people
paint pictures or words on walls, which is called graffiti. In the 2000s ,
hip hop music is very popular in the United States and Canada. HipHop musicians usually use nicknames (made-up names). Many
popular hip-hop musicians from the 2000s us nicknames such as
Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z, and 50-Cent.
Pop music
The term ”pop song”, is first recorded as being used in 1926 in
the sense of a piece of music ”having popular appeal Hatch and
Millward indicate thet many events in the history of recording in the 20s
can be seen as the birth of the modern pop music industry, including in
country, blues and hillbilly music.
Rap music
Rapping as a form of singing is a mix between singing and
talking. The words are spokem with rythm and in the text there are
rhymes. The beat in the background is a simple loop that is sometimes
made by the rapper themself or sometimes coppied from the sample
CD. The simple loop carries out through the entire song usually, except
for the chorus.
Rock’n’ roll
Rock’n’ roll is a genre of popular music that originated and
evolved in the United States during the late 1940s and early 1950s.
primarily from the combination of the blues, country music and gospel
music. Though the elements of rock and roll can be heard in country
records of the 1930s, and in blues records from the 1920s, rock and roll
did not acquire its name until the 1950s. An early form of rock and roll
was rockbilly, which combined country and jazz with influences from
traditional Appalachian folk music and gospel.
