Education
M.A.T., Duke University (Expected 06/03). Will complete thirty-six
hour master’s program and receive North Carolina M-level certification
to teach secondary English in June of 2003.
B.A. in English, Summa Cum Laude, August 1999, University of
Arkansas, Fayetteville.
Completed Four-Year Honors Program,
Fulbright College, as a First Ranked Senior Scholar. Studied abroad:
Fall 1997, Semester at Sea; Summer 1996, U of A summer program of
theatre study in England. GPA=4.0 (A=4).
Experience
Teaching Intern, Jordan High School, Durham, North Carolina
(through Duke University) – August 2002 to present. Duties include
sharing the planning, teaching, and grading responsibilities for high
school English classes with a mentor teacher. Taught three sections of
A.P. English and one section of English literature in the fall and
currently teach two sections of honors American literature and one
section of world literature.
Academic Counselor, Pre-Collegiate Academy for Mathematics and
Sciences, University of Arkansas – February 2000 to May 2002.
Duties included creation of an application for the program; identification
and recruitment of prospective Academy students; assisting in the
development of the curriculum for the summer component of the
program; organizing and implementing individual conferences with
Academy students to counsel them on college admission, career
opportunities, and ACT testing; and creating and teaching college search
and career search workshops.
Academic Tutor, University of Arkansas Upward Bound Program –
October 1999 to May 2000. Provided counseling on and instruction
with schoolwork for Upward Bound students. Also provided help with
study habits and test taking for students.
Bookseller, Barnes & Noble – October 1999 to February 2000. Position
included cash register work, stocking, store recovery, and customer
service for in-store and phone-order customers. Promoted to Lead
Bookseller in January and received added duties of new-employee
training and supervision of a section of the store.

Experience
Library Clerk, Chemistry Library, University of Arkansas,
Fayetteville – May through August, 1997 and 1998. Responsible for
maintaining the Chemistry Library, checking in new materials,
cataloguing materials, patron assistance, and opening or closing the
library as needed. Was nighttime hourly supervisor for library. Trained
and supervised work-study students.
