UNIVERSITY TEACHING FELLOWSHIP SCHEME
2010
Introduction
Applications are invited for YSJ Teaching Fellowships from full-time academic and
academic/technical support staff and part-time staff on proportional contracts. Successful
applicants will also be considered for the University's nominations to the National Teaching
Fellowship Awards. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis and considered at Teaching
Fellowship Panel meetings that takes place three times a year.
The purpose of the scheme is to reward and recognise the work of individual staff members for
their contribution to the enhancement of teaching and/or supporting student learning and to their
contribution to meeting the learning and teaching goals of the Faculty/Department and University.
YSJ Teaching Fellows will receive a one off award of £500. This money is intended to be used
to support their on-going staff development. Teaching Fellows are expected to play a central role
in their Faculty/Department in ongoing learning and teaching enhancement and innovation work.
The Fellows will be entitled to keep their University Teaching Fellowship title as long as they are
able to demonstrate continued participation in activities designed to enhance learning, teaching
and assessment practice, and engage with the University Teaching Fellow network. They will be
encouraged to build towards a National Teaching Fellowship Scheme application.
