KING STREET CAMPUS
Policies and Procedures
VISITORS:
In order to maintain safety in our buildings all visitors must sign in and out at the Main Office and wear
a visitor badge.
SCHOOL HOURS:
Regular Day – 8:25 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Two Hour Delay – 10:25 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
One-Hour Early Release – 8:25 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Weather/Emergency Early Dismissal – 8:25 a.m. – 11:50 a.m.
ARRIVALS:
Doors open at 8:00 a.m.
Instruction begins at 8:25 a.m.
Any student arriving after 8:25 a.m. must report to the Main Office accompanied by an adult. The
student will receive a tardy slip and the adult will sign the child in the tardy binder. Parents are to make
every effort to have students in school on time. Late students interrupt lessons in progress.
Two hour delayed opening – doors open at 10:00 a.m., instruction begins at 10:25 a.m.
DISMISSAL:
Any student remaining after 3:10 p.m. will wait in the Main Office while emergency contacts are called.
Whenever there is a change in dismissal plans, the parent/guardian must send a signed note with the
student. The note must include: Date, Student Name, Teacher Name, instruction for dismissal. If you
forget to send a note with your child, you may fax a note to 203-830-6596, e-mail a note to
cefala@danbury.k12.ct.us or to your child’s teacher or bring in a note to the office before 12:00 Noon.
In the case of a true emergency a phone call may be made, but please use this method as a last resort in
order to minimize classroom interruption and instructional time.
If the student will be picked up by someone other than a parent or guardian, please include the full name
of the person and the relation to the student.
Students leaving early should be picked up no later than 2:45 p.m.
If a parent or guardian is at the school for a school or classroom activity and is taking their child after
the activity they must sign the student out in the main office. If there is a sibling in a different
grade/class that you would like to take with you, please have the office call the student out of their
classroom. Students should not be pulled out of their classroom by a parent/guardian.
ABSENTEEISM:
We care about our students, if your child is going to be absent from school, we ask that you please call
the school before 9:00 a.m. at 797-4805 and leave a message on the answering machine stating your
child’s name, teacher and reason for absence. KSP families may e-mail absence to:

TRANSPORTATION:
If there is a transportation question or problem, please call the bus company at the phone number below.
LOST AND FOUND:
Please remember to clearly label all of your children’s jackets, hats, gloves, boots, backpacks, lunch
boxes and all other personal items. This will help to return items misplaced in school or on the bus.
PARENT PICK UP:
Students will be dismissed to a designated area of the gym. Parents will enter gym, line up to sign child
out. Child will remain seated until parent has signed out. We appreciate your patience as we take time
to ensure appropriate dismissal of each child.
BIRTHDAY PARTY GUIDELINES:
Celebrations, including birthdays, will be arranged between the teacher and the class parent for each
month. Outside food is not permitted into the classroom; see board of education policy.
Sorry, due to liability reasons, siblings are not permitted to attend with volunteers.
VOLUNTEERS:
Teachers seek out volunteers for a variety of support; including field trips.
Volunteers working with children will be required to complete form that includes personal
information for background checks.
