Essential Function: Cleans general public areas as assigned – straightens furniture, removes garbage, dusts,
vacuums, mops, and operates various cleaning equipment
Job Standards:
 Furniture in assigned area is straightened or re-straightened to restore appearance to the room; minimizes
the disruption to patrons by waiting until the area is vacated in order to re-straighten furniture.
 Vacuums and dust mops floors daily for all assigned areas, as trained; repeats as needed, such as when
large or multiple events are scheduled, accidental spills occur, etc.
 Removes garbage as needed, and as trained (no garbage left on tabletops, seating or floors, little garbage
left in trash cans; correctly uses the rolling garbage barrel, etc.)
 No valid complaints of failure to treat patrons and coworkers with dignity and respect. (Supervisor will
investigate such complaints and determine their validity.)
 Never abuses or mishandles furniture, equipment or tools; always operates and handles equipment as
trained.
 Notifies supervisor of any furniture damage or stains within same day discovered.
 Identifies potential hazards and proposes or initiates corrective actions to remove or reduce the hazard.
Always alerts supervisor via radio as appropriate regarding any hazards requiring assistance in order to
resolve.
 Works productively with all coworkers (work yields desired results).
 Listens to and makes an extra effort to assist students and patrons whenever the opportunity presents itself.
 Assignments are completed within specified time frame
 All details of assigned tasks are completed
 Consistently completes tasks with maximum efficiency and quality (i.e., does not waste time, completes
work correctly so that it does not have to be re-done, anticipates and brings all needed supplies and

Essential Function: Cleans assigned public restrooms (doors, toilets, sinks, mirrors and floors; restocks
dispensers)
Job Standards:
 Follows all safety procedures when completing these tasks
 Uses correct cleaning agents for specific surfaces, and in correct amounts.
 Checks all assigned restrooms three times during shift, at the designated time. Cleans and restocks as
needed; cleans as trained.
 Restocks all dispensers to operational levels, as instructed in training.
 Minimizes disruption of the patrons (consider timing of event and demand for use, the level of disorder,
whether nearby restrooms are available, etc.)
 Assignments are completed within specified time frame
 All details of assigned tasks are completed
 Consistently completes tasks with maximum efficiency and quality (i.e., does not waste time, completes
work correctly so that it does not have to be re-done, anticipates and brings all needed supplies and
equipment to the work site, etc.)

PERCENT of time: 20%
Essential Function: Set up and strike rooms (with tables, chairs, and special equipment)
Job Standards:
 Rooms are set up according to schedule and directions given, within designated time frame;
 All trash cans in room are checked to ensure there is little or no trash in them, and are emptied if they are
not.
 Cleans all chalk boards and/or white boards that are dirty and/or were used in previous event
 Vacuums carpet at least daily, more often when circumstances warrant (such as multiple events scheduled
in the room throughout the day/night), or when instructed
 Always checks to ensure tables and chairs are clean; cleans any that require cleaning prior to the event.
 After the event, removes tables and chairs as directed, empties all trash and removes the garbage
 Always reports any items left behind by patrons to the supervisor
 Whenever necessary, vacuums/dust mops to restore appearance
 After set up, always secures meeting room doors when rooms are not in use.
 Assignments are completed within specified time frame

 Checks and follows manufacturer’s directions on application of finishes and cleaning agents
 Alerts supervisor to any equipment problems (malfunctioning, safety hazards)
 Follows correct procedure for cleaning, as trained
 Assignments are completed within specified time frame
 All details of assigned tasks are completed
 Consistently completes tasks with maximum efficiency and quality (i.e., does not waste time,
completes work correctly so that it does not have to be re-done, anticipates and brings all needed
supplies and equipment to the work site, etc.)
PERCENT of time: 15%

Job Standards:
 Serves as a resource to team by providing correct, reliable information and assistance.
 Checks to make sure all assigned personnel in assigned area stay on task.
 Whenever requested, performs special assigned duties (such as assuming some tasks of the
supervisor when the supervisor is away from work).
 When assigned, assists in training new personnel when they come on duty by providing training
in how to correctly shampoo carpet, correct use of various machines and equipment, proper room
set up, etc.)
