Basic Information
a. Group Rate: $2 per person per facility + tax
i. If your group is tax exempt, you must provide a copy of the certificate.
You can fax it ahead of time, or bring it with you the day of the trip. Our
fax number is 850-833-9675
ii. Bus Drivers and teachers are free!
b. The Indian Temple Mound Museum (ITMM) and Camp Walton Schoolhouse
Museum (CWSM) are available for group tours.
i. Both facilities, cost per student/chaperone is: $4.00 + $.24 sales tax (6%)=
$4.24
ii. One facility, cost per student/chaperone is: $2 + $.12 sales tax= $2.12
iii. We can send you an invoice ahead of time or provide one the day of.
iv. Payment can be made by check, cash, or credit card. If a credit card is
used the person whose name is on the card must be present.
c. In order to qualify for the group rate, a group must
i. Have at least 12 paying visitors.
ii. Pay in one transaction
iii. Make a reservation at least 2 weeks in advance
Group Tour information
a. Group tours are given before the museum is open to the public. For information
about our operating hours, please see http://www.fwb.org/index.php/visitor-info.
b. At the ITMM, your group would receive an educational presentation by a trained
museum educator, tour the museum gallery to look at the displays, artifacts, and
hands-on items, visit the gift shop, and learn about the Fort Walton Temple
Mound. Generally, this part lasts 45-60 minutes.
i. Groups can be taken on top of the mound or have a modified tour around
the mound if there are wheelchair-bound visitors. The same information
panels are on top of the mound as are around the base of the mound.
c. At the CWSM, your group will receive an educational presentation from a trained
museum educator that lasts 45-60 minutes. The presentation varies based on the
ages of the group present. Group tours can be tailored to your groups’ needs and
wants.
Other related information
a. Your group will be met by a museum staff member in the parking lot to assist in
parking your bus or vehicles. We have room for two buses in our back parking
lot, and parking for POVs also. I have attached the parking map for your
reference.
b. Generally, group tours are not done over the summer (June-August) unless special
permission has been obtained from Museum Manager Gail Lynn Meyer at 850833-9595 or gmeyer@fwb.org .

c. October, November, and December are our busiest months for group tours with
some booking a year in advance.
How to make a reservation
a. We will need to know the following information from you before we can make a
reservation:
i. Group Name
ii. Date you wish to visit
iii. Arrival Time
iv. Mode of transportation (POV, Bus, vans)
v. # of people coming (it is ok to estimate this, we can firm up the details
later)
vi. Coordinator/Group Leader Name
vii. Mailing Address
viii. Contact number and email
ix. The purpose of your trip (any specific topics you’d like us to discuss, for
example)
x. Will your group members be shopping?
xi. Any special needs group members (blind, wheelchairs, deaf)
xii. Anything else we need to know about your schedule that day (If you have
to leave be a certain time, have a lunch reservation, etc)
b. Reservations are best made over the phone, once you know most of the
information above. It usually takes about 5 minutes for us to run through all the
parts of our reservation form and answer any questions you may have.
i. Once the reservation has been made, we will send you a confirmation
email that details all the logistics of your trip (meaning, you do not have to
write everything down while we are talking to you  )
ii. If the reservation is made more than a month ahead of time or there are a
few unknowns (number of kids, mode of transportation) we will follow up
with you a minimum of 2-3 weeks before your scheduled visit.
