Scientific interests, teaching, reviewing: Since 1980 - multiple investigations in allergic
rhinitis, asthma and other allergic diseases. Special interest in the field of pediatric
allergology, allergology and clinical immunology. The initiator of enzyme immunoassay
introduction for investigations of the total and specific IgE in Lithuania and former Soviet
Union. Pioneer for scientific research in Pediatric Allergology in Lithuania. The PhD thesis
was on the process of sensitization and the role of prostaglandins in early age children,
suffering from recurrent respiratory diseases (1984).
Research trend of Vilnius University: Etiopathogenesis, Diagnostics, Treatment of
Diseases: Fundamental and Clinical Research, Innovative Technologies. Research trend of
VU, Faculty of Medicine, Clinic of Children's Diseases: Development of the methods of
diagnostics, treatment and prophylaxis of acute and chronic infectious, immune, allergic,
metabolic, hematologic and oncohematologic diseases. Project Supported by University
Budget “Regulation of Causes and Outcomes of Children's Diseases, Traumas and Inborn
Anomalies” (since 2003). The field – allergology and clinical immunology.
Participant in 4 projects supported by Lithuanian State Science and Studies Foundation.
Together with partners from the Institute of Immunology of Vilnius University – 3 projects
in allergology (2002, 2006, 2007).
Head of the High Tech programme project of the Diagnostics and Investigation of
Rhinoviruses in the Pathogenesis of Allergic Diseases together with partners from the
Institute of Biotechnology (Lithuania) and Institute of Botanics (Lithuania) (2008–2010).
