Hennepin County hosting household hazardous waste collection events
Hennepin County and its partner cities are hosting a series of community collection
events for county residents to safely and properly dispose of their unwanted garden
and household hazardous wastes. All sites will be open to the public from 9 a.m. –
4 p.m., Thursday through Saturday.
PLEASE NOTE: This year, the county will NOT be accepting electronics at the
collection events; household hazardous waste will be accepted only.

The county will accept many household hazardous wastes, including:




Aerosols
Art and hobby chemicals
Batteries – tape positive (+)
terminal
 Cleaners – drain, oven and
other corrosive cleaners
Mercury-Containing Items







Gas cylinders 40 pounds and
less
Paint, stain, varnish, solvents
(limit three 5-gallon pails)
Pesticides
Pool and spa chemicals
CFLs, other fluorescent bulbs and HID lamps (limit 25)
Thermostats
Thermometers
Auto and fuel wastes



Antifreeze
Auto paints
Lead-acid batteries

Gas, fuels, fluids (containers
will not be returned)
No motor oil. Items are accepted from households only; business waste is not
accepted.

Hennepin County’s collection events provide residents with convenient community
locations to bring their problem wastes. As a year-round alternative to these
collections, Hennepin County provides drop-off facilities located at 1400 W. 96th
St., Bloomington and 8100 Jefferson Highway, Brooklyn Park. Visit
www.hennepin.us/dropoffs for more information on drop-off facilities.
