*Use manipulative to compare and contrast prokaryotes and
eukaryotes.
*Watch “The weird History of the Cell Theory” and answer
questions as notes.
HMWK: look over prokaryote and eukaryote notes for quiz
*Complete Venn Diagrams to compare prokaryotes and
Eukaryotes and add to notes.

a plasma membrane.
*Observe model of a cell membrane and analyze each part
of it. Determine the limitations of this model.
*Test over microscope and cell types.
*Watch the “Weird History of the Cell Theory” and take

eukaryote cells
Thursday
10/22
*Complete activity from yesterday to observe and analyze a
cell membrane model.
*Use manipulatives to place water and solutes in and out of
the cell. Move them to where they actually moved do
students can visualize what occurred. Identify the
substances as hypertonic, isotonic, and hypotonic as well as
the key words of osmosis and diffusion. Students will draw
the beakers, dialysis tubing, water, and solutes and draw
arrows to show which way substances moved and write
description of them using the correct vocabulary words.
HMWK: Finish drawings and descriptions.
*Check homework.
*Color the cell membrane parts purple, red, yellow, or
green to correspond to the biomolecule it is made of.
*Use cell membrane model to observe and analyze.
*Discuss how to test the substances that can move
through a semipermeable membrane and make chart to
complete for tomorrow.

eukaryote cells
Friday
10/23
*Discus drawings from the lab that show which way
* Conduct lab activity as a class to see what moves
substances move and which substances moved.
through a plasma membrane.
*Define diffusion, osmosis, isotonic solution, hypertonic
solution, and hypertonic solution. Apply these words to the
lab activity.
