In addition to hearing Dr. Hasse occasionally on air, I had the privilege and pleasure of hearing
him at the recent AONE conference. I want you to know how innovative I thought his
presentation was. As one of the secretaries typed a brief summary of the meeting for my
distribution to students, she commented to me about how impressive his session must have
been. Even mere word descriptions about his performance excite people! He shared his talents
with us and was such a gracious presenter. If his presentation had been recorded, I would use it

His presentation was both insightful and thought provoking as he related his experiences from
being a jazz master who has had to improvise or take calculated risks to produce positive results.
The method in which he related his experiences to the medical profession was exemplary. The

On April 22, 2004, Young Audiences of Colorado had the great pleasure of presenting a concert
featuring John Edward Hasse, Ph.D. Dr. Hasse gave a stunning presentation and performance of
jazz, rhythm, and blues music by Ellington, Carmichael, Joplin, and many other musical greats.
The concert was meant as a singular fundraising event for Young Audiences of Colorado but
due to the exceptional quality of performance by Dr. Hasse many of those who attended have
been inspired to become patrons to our organization well beyond the evening of the event.
Young Audiences of Colorado owes much to Dr. Hasse for his participation in our event.
Dr. Hasse is not only a gifted performer and music historian, but is also a wonderful person how
was a joy to meet and work with.
