PERSONAL STATEMENT
I am a conference, business and legal Portuguese interpreter with over thirteen years experience. I
interpret at conferences, workshops, business meetings and events in the UK and across Europe. As a
National Registered interpreter I work for the British Justice System in England & Northern Ireland,
the UK Border Agency and government departments.
Being a British and Brazilian citizen with living and working experiences in both countries, I dedicate
some of my time to work as a cultural briefing consultant, promoting cross cultural awareness
workshops in “How to do business in Brazil”. As a member of the Brazilian Chamber of Commerce
in Great Britain, I promote trade and business opportunities between Brazil and Great Britain.
I am involved in voluntary planning consultation in the UK and I had in the past contributed to
voluntary projects related to social and environmental issues in Brazil. I have a sustainable
development ethos, which is about making sure that people throughout the world can satisfy their basic
needs now, while making sure that future generations can also look forward to the same quality of life.

WORK EXPERIENCE
CONFERENCE AND BUSINESS PORTUGUESE/ENGLISH INTERPRETER
I interpret at conferences, workshops, business meetings and events across Europe, using booth and tour guide
systems. I have interpreted for the automotive industry, finance and investments, international affairs and other
fields. I usually work in pairs and I learnt over the years the importance of teamwork, good planning and research.
Some of my major assignments include the IMDE (International MINI Dealer Experience) in Madrid for the
BMW MINI 2014 launch to the Brazilian and Portuguese markets, which involved various presentations, speeches,
workshops and high speed test drives whilst interpreting via radio as a passenger. Another relevant assignment
was an Investment project, whereby I interpreted for the CEO of a Brazilian company on high profile meetings
with bankers and investors in England, Scotland, Sweden, Denmark and Holland. Date: Since 2011
LEGAL AND PUBLIC SERVICE PORTUGUESE INTERPRETER
I interpret for the criminal and civil justice system in the UK and Northern Ireland, for the Home Office,
government agencies and mental health/NHS Trusts. I have worked on high profile cases, where I had to establish
rapport with strangers whilst coping with volatile situations under extreme pressure. I am a Home Office and
Commonwealth registered translator and security vetted (CRB Enhanced, Counter Terrorism Check and Police
Clearance). I am also a member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIoL), the National Register of Public
Service Interpreters (NRPSI) and the Association of Police and Court Interpreters (APCI). Date: Since 2001
BRAZIL CULTURAL BRIEFING CONSULTANT
I organise workshops to highlight the opportunities and working practices of Brazil. The Cultural Awareness
workshop covers the practical business behaviour and etiquette, but my intention is to raise a deeper understanding
of the values, perceptions and attitudes expressed in the “Brazilian behaviour”, achieving cultural awareness about
Brazil and inter-cultural communications skills. As a member of the Brazilian Chamber of Commerce in Great

VOLUNTARY WORK
Cambridgeshire Constabulary – England – Planning Consultation
I am part of a group of professional interpreters, meeting quarterly with Cambridgeshire Constabulary
and professional bodies, to discuss and implement new cost effective ways to cope with the increased
demand of interpreters due to a rise in the number of migrants. Date: Since 2009
Rio de Janeiro City Council – Brazil – Planning Consultation
I worked with various organisations in the city of Rio de Janeiro for the implementation of sustainable
tourism via group planning. I had meetings with the local community, environmental and tourism
boards, museums and national parks. Date: 1996 / 1998
Brazilian Institute of Eco-tourism – Brazil - Director of the Rio de Janeiro’s Chamber
I worked with local communities on environmental education. I had dealing with tour operators,
government bodies, Brazilian association of travel agents and media. Introducing sustainable tourism

Pilot Project (Street Boys) coordinated by Dr. Irene Rizzini working with marginalized street children
