A BETTER WAY TO TREAT HEADACHES….
Tired of taking medication for headache pain that does not go away? The relief with over the counter
medications is temporary at best. As the cycle of pain and pills continues, even that relief may become
ineffective. The body soon becomes used to the pain reliever and develops a tolerance to it. The headache
is not caused by an Aspirin deficiency; it is caused by a mechanical disturbance in the musculo-skeletal
complex of the neck. It is also common for pain suffers to take more than the recommended dosage of
medication. Many over-users become addicted and advance to prescription drugs, painkillers, tranquilizers,
or anti-anxiety drugs. There are also many adverse side-effects associated with both prescription drugs and
over-the-counter medication. For example, aspirin and ibuprofen can irritate the stomach, aggravate ulcers
and cause vascular fragility accelerating joint destruction. Acetaminophen can cause complications with
liver disease. You can’t find lasting relief from headaches in a bottle because you are simply masking the
problem rather than correcting the problem. This is the equivalent of taking the batteries out of your smoke
alarm during a fire. Our clinics put the fire out.
Corrective care is necessary not only to relieve or reduce headaches but also to remove the cause of the
problem. Our expertise in the treatment of headaches allows us to correct the cause of the headache and
therefore help to prevent the recurrence of headaches.
Research has shown that the majority of recurring or migraine headaches are related to misalignment of
one or more vertebrae (movable bone segments that comprise the spine) in the neck. Since the nerves and
the blood vessels pass through small openings between these vertebrae, a misalignment can substantially
decrease the amount of blood and nerve impulses going to face and the brain resulting in headaches.
We have the highest degree of skill in vertebral misalignment correction (spinal manipulation) than any
other profession.
Recent studies at the University of Maryland discovered that an actual tissue connection linking the
musculature of the neck to the outer layering (dura) of the brain and spinal cord. This connection is named
the “muscle-dura connection”. Tension in the neck muscles can exert tension in the dura, which can lead to
a headache. This recent discovery provides compelling evidence, further supporting the anatomical basis
for the rationale behind our success in the treatment of headaches.
Our treatment of headaches is two-fold:
-Remove pressure on nerves and blood vessels by correcting spinal misalignments gently with our
specific spinal manipulations.
-Remove tension on the outer layering (dura) of the brain and spinal cord due to the “muscle-dura
connection” by reducing muscle tension in the neck, utilizing state-of-the-art physical therapy modalities as
well as trigger- point therapy (a very specific technique used for deep muscle tissue tension)..
The fact remains that the vast majority of headaches are caused by these disturbances in the spine. Since
no therapeutic method approaches chiropractic health care in the correction of these neck problems, the
logical choice for the corrections of your headaches is to seek care from our expert physicians.
“A headache is trying to tell you there is something wrong, listen to your body when it speaks to you and
you won’t have to listen to it scream at you.
