1 Introduction

Brandy, tradicional serbian drink, produces by alcosolic fermentation sugar from fruit. Enamel is the strongest tussue in human body. It contains about 95% of inorganic substance(hydroxyapatite), a little bit of oranic matrix and about 4-12% of water [4]. It could be demineralised with acids which pH value is 5.5 or less. It is made of enamel rods [3]. Influence could be caused by diffusing of substances through permeable pores on enamel's surface [4].

The purpose of this work was to examine the empact of plum brandy on tooth enamel.

2 Methods

The experiment was performed on the crowns of human permanent teeth. Prepared crowns were in saline till the start of treatment to avoid changes on enamel. For treatment were used homemade and industrial brandy.

Crowns were divided into three groups:

1) treatment with homemade brandy

2) treatment with industrial brandy

3) control crowns (no treatment)

The first two groups of crowns were treated with appropirate brandy two times a day in 10 min till the third group was in distilled water [1]. After

20 days from start of treatment teeth's enamel was observed under an electron microscope, but was previously prepared by steaming in the device Fisons Instruments Polaron SC502 Sputter

Coater with gold and palladium.Teeth's enamel was observed under electron microscope in the following enlarge: 70X, 200X, 1000X, 3000X.

3 Results

Brandy damages teeth's enamel. Teeth's enamel which is treated with homemade brandy is degrader and rougher than industrial brandy treated enamel. Enamel treated with industrial brandy has dents which look like opens of dentinal tubules (picture 1).

4 Conclusion

Homemade and industrial brandy damage teeth's enamel, but homemade brandy makes bigger damage than industrial brandy.
