TCCRA Round 9 was held August 21 & 22 at the Deen Ranch in Archer City, Texas.
Chad Deen was the promoter. Temperatures were well above 100 degrees. Racing
started Saturday with the Peewees. The Peewee track was 1 mile long with elevation
changes and a run through a creek bed. Connor Coughlin, Colton Tarver, Matthew
Wiggins, Tyler Kohls, Connor Addy, Ross Moncrief, Trent Bridges, and Brooklyn Miller
all won first place in their classes.
Big bike racing started Saturday at 8:45a.m. on an 8.5 mile mostly open and flowing
track full of elevation changes, rocks and a rock garden, hard pack dirt, a creek jump,
tight woods sections, and a rock ledge jump. First up was the Minis/Ladies race. Eric
Wade got the overall. Danielle Mulkey won the $50 ladies long jump contest. Jordan
Milbauer, Candice McMillon, and Victoria Abrantes all took home 1st places in the
ladies races. Eric Wade, Hunter Barnes, and Eric Lucas received 1st places in the minis
races. Tammy Jo Tarver and Kris Mcmanaman took home 1st place in the Women's
Intermediate and Women's Amateur respectively.
Thirteen Pro riders battled for the $1800 pro purse. Matt Crouch narrowly edged out
Caleb Ramsay and Austin Henderson in the battle for the holeshot. Top 6 Pro finishers
were; Caleb Ramsay, Matt Crouch, Cooper Bailey, Austin Henderson, Cameron Ishmael,
and Brian Storrie. Chirs Storrie got the overall award in the Expert Race. Winning the
$50 long jump contest in the 250 Expert class was Jeremy Huddleston who also won the
class race.
Ending the day in the scorching heat was the Amateur Race. Zach Watson received the
Overall Amateur Award along with winning the 250 Amateur class.
As the season winds down, battles for the championship are heating up in all classes.
Round 10 will be held in Denton, Texas on September 11 and 12th. Brian Storrie will be
the promoter.
