Greg Jansen and Richard Matla from New Zealand conducted this very well received
workshop in Singapore last year and in June this year. Participants learnt practical
responsive pedagogy to strengthen their teaching and learning relationship with their
students. They also learnt how to engage their students responsively to bring about
their holistic development. They found this to be a very useful workshop.

• Explore the use of the social discipline window
• Have an overview of the restorative continuum of practice - from conversations to the full
conference
• Learn about the impact of strong classroom teaching relationships on classroom
management and learning
• Experience some hands-on skill development- the restorative conversation

Greg Jansen & Rich Matla are co-founders of an educational consultancy - 'Restorative
Schools', (http://www.restorativeschools.org.nz) which works primarily with primary and
secondary schools throughout New Zealand focusing on developing strong teaching and
learning relationships.
They bring a wealth of experiences both teaching and leading within and beyond
mainstream education, throughout New Zealand and overseas, and they pride themselves
in providing highly responsive, practical, hands on workshops that are relevant and
meaningful to everyday teaching and school life.
Greg & Rich both complete post graduate study in 2009 and were contributing authors of
the recently published book (November 2011) Responsive Pedagogy – Engaging
Restoratively with Challenging Behaviour available through New Zealand Centre for
