The main purpose of this position is to manage the admissions and waitlist to this facility.
Service Manager
The role is assist residents and families with the process of admission to residential care therefore a
sensitive consumer orientated approach is essential. Within this role will also be expected to visit and
assess potential residents within their home or at a hospital to determine their suitability for admission
to this facility. This role will also ensure that income is maximized by ensuring that information is
provided to finance and the Service Manager which maximized income. Associated with this role is
the arrangement of celebration activities in consultation with the Service Manager and relevant other
people. The position is responsible for the production of the newsletter and other printed information
for residents.
The position forms part of the senior management team on the site. Importantly all management
activities must be performed in accordance with the Mercy values of Compassion, Respect,
Innovation, Stewardship and Teamwork.
 Qualifications in Nursing, Welfare, Social work or related discipline.
 Experience in Aged, Health or Community Care Services.
 Essential working knowledge of the Commonwealth Aged Care Act.
 An understanding of the requirements in contemporary aged care including but not limited to ACFI
documentation, funding and accreditation.
 Grief and loss counseling skills desirable.
 Communication and negotiation skills.

 Arrange Celebratory Activities and circulate information

 Ensure that preadmission packages are sent to potential
residents in a timely manner.





Financial
 In consultation with Senior clinical staff selects an
appropriate applicant to offer a Residential Care place.
 Ensure the prospective residents are ready to be
admitted on the agreed date.
 Arrange pre admission leave as necessary in
consultation with the Finance Department.
 99.9 % Occupancy or better.
 Maintenance of a concessional occupancy rates in
the facility.
 Compliance with preadmission leave
arrangements.
Risk Management
 Appropriate identification and escalation of clinical,
OH&S and Business Risks.
 Timely undertaking of risk assessments.
 Timely implementation of risk minimizing actions.
 Ensure compliance with appropriate standards.
 Analysis and Risk Assessment of Incident reports
(Staff and Resident).
 Evidence of reduction in Incidents, resultant from
preventions and actions.
