SUMMARY: Responsible for maintenance of the physical oyster plant all vehicles and heavy equipment, oyster processing
machinery, and all vessels on water structures. Also responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the physical plant grounds,
including shell piles, vegetation and drainage.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes the following: Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
Maintain oyster plant facility: Maintenance and repair of all electrical, mechanical and plumbing equipment in the plant, including
exhaust fans, motors, coolers, freezers, light fixtures, blowers, water heater, heaters and the ice machine.
Maintenance and repair of all equipment associated with shucking/packing operations, including conveyor belts, drums, bearings,
blowers, clam machine, strapper, pallet scale, pallet jack, fork lift, and scales.
Responsible for routine maintenance of in-plant equipment, such as greasing, belt changes, tension adjustment, welding and
fabrication as needed.
Maintains log of pertinent in-plant equipment such as forklift.
Assess inventory of tools and supplies as well as keeping maintenance room organized.
Maintain equipment and machinery: Service, maintenance and logs of vehicles, including all trucks and trailers.
Service, maintenance and logs of all heavy equipment used at facility, including John Deer Backhoe, and Cat Forklift.
Maintenance and repair of electrical and plumbing and overall operation of setting tanks.
Maintenance and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment on sink float.
Maintenance, repair and fabrication of shell machine, including electrical, hydraulics and plumbing.
Service, maintenance, and logs of all boats and motors used in operation, including lower unit oil changes, shift/throttle checks, spark
plug changes, removal and instillation of motors from/to boats. Also including Scow, crane and Aux. engine.
Service, maintenance and logs of all machinery used in operation, including shell machine, gas tanks, trash pumps, lights, and
generators, electric motors, hydraulic motors, and hydraulic lines.
Communicate with plant and tideland managers about vehicle, equipment and machinery concerns and of any maintenance
requirements.
Maintain Company Grounds: Oyster shell exiting plant and coordinating shell piles for summer set production.
Will coordinate landscaping with General Manager.
Maintenance and repair of pump house, septic system, larvae tank tops, cement structures; larvae pump house, gate, and all locks.
Technical heavy equipment work, trench digging, soil relocation, grading, tree stump removal, etc.
Regular summer spraying of weeds and nuisance vegetation.
Responsible for maintaining unused parts, equipment and vehicles in used parts storage area.
Oversees and monitors trespassing on property.
Participate in Salish Seafoods Company’s strategic planning and be an integral part of the management team.
Provide input from physical plant activities at weekly staff meetings, so best management practices may be applied.
Communicate freely with other management practices on the team to best meet the needs of the company.
Assist in creating yearly budgets as well as cost-projection for projects such as shell stock purchase, single purchase, and clam
purchase.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Currently this position does not have supervisory responsibilities; however may
occasionally be asked to coordinate and supervise workers with grounds maintenance and landscaping.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelors Degree and one year of related experience OR Associates Degree and three years
of related experience OR High School Diploma or GED and five years of related experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write
simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and
other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common
fractions and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written oral
instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to

Physical demands include but are not limited to lifting bags/boxes of oysters and clams, operating heavy equipment, lifting packing
supplies, clean up of plant and ground areas associated with maintenance activities. This position will encompass many activities
which will require the candidate to work with heavy items, such as sheets of steel and aluminum, piping, lumber, etc.
Proper lifting techniques and back support should be used when working with heavy materials. In addition, use of safety gear such as
ear protection, eye protection, welding shield, respirators, and protective clothing are REQUIRED for all pertinent jobs. There will
typically be other managers or employees that can assist with jobs that require substantial lifting, etc.
