Shortly after the European Commission's launched its €315bn EU investment plan, CoR First VicePresident Catiuscia Marini, rapporteur on promoting quality in public investment, and the President
of the Lazio Region, Nicola Zingaretti, rapporteur on the Sixth Cohesion Report, will take questions
from the press on the impact of the new investment plan on regions. They will give their position on
how EU structural funds 2014-2020 can start on time to deliver growth and jobs as well as on how to
boost public investment in Europe.

The PES Group in the CoR organised the 7th edition of its annual photo competition, focusing on jobs
and employment. Amateur photographers were invited to capture in a photo the diversity of job
realities and job aspirations in Europe. This initiative came as a follow-up to the youth employment
campaign, undertaken by the PES Group (http://bit.ly/youth-employment).
A jury composed of members of the CoR PES Group – representing local and regional authorities
across the EU - and professionals from the world of photography selected the three best photos. The
public also selected a fourth winner via an online vote on the Group's Facebook page.
Winners of this year's competition are:
 1st Prize: Gediminas Tamulynas (Vilnius, Lithuania)
 2nd Prize: Liene Purple (Daugavpils, Latvia)
 3rd Prize: Ismail Mejiri (Kortrijk, Belgium)
 Public Prize: Alexander Goranov (Roman, Bulgaria)

The EU's Committee of the Regions
The Committee of the Regions is the EU's assembly of regional and local representatives. The
mission of its members from all 28 EU Member States is to involve regional and local authorities and
the communities they represent in the EU's decision-making process and to inform them about EU
policies. The European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council are obliged to consult
the Committee in policy areas affecting regions and cities. It can appeal to the EU Court of Justice if
its rights are infringed or it believes that an EU law infringes the subsidiarity principle or fails to respect
regional or local powers.
