Dear Parents,
Our fun-packed summer term continues with more exciting activities – please make sure you put all the
dates down in the diary and complete the permission slips below.
Monday 28th June Dulverton Year 4 day
A reminder that those year 4s transferring to Dulverton Middle School will be spending the day at
Dulverton. In the morning they will be at Dulverton First School, they will then have lunch (they must
bring a packed lunch) and then spend the afternoon at Dulverton Middle School. Kevin Sandiford will
collect the children in the minibus at 9am and drop them off at 3pm.
Tuesday 29th June – Juniors Pilgrimage from Dunster to Timberscombe
On Tuesday, the juniors will all be walking from Dunster to Timberscombe on their
special pilgrimage as part of our RE work this term. The children will start from
school at the normal time, Mrs Scott and I will travel in the minibus to Dunster where
we will spend some time exploring the church. We will then be walking over the hill
to Wootton Courtenay and sharing a simple pilgrims lunch at Manor Farm. After a
chance to look around All Saints Church, we will drive in the minibus back to
Timberscombe and the end of our pilgrimage at St. Petrock’s. The children will need
to wear school uniform and comfortable shoes (they will be walking a long way!)
Lunch will be provided, but the children will need to bring a drink and a snack with them on the walk.
Parents are more than welcome to join us on the walk.
Wednesday 30th June - Year 1 and Year 2 Multiskills Festival
The Year 1 and Year 2 children will be participating in a Multiskills Sports Festival with
other local First Schools on Wednesday, June 30th at Minehead Middle School. We will be
leaving school by coach with Cutcombe and Exford Schools at approximately 9.30 a.m. Mrs
Rayner and 2 other adults will be accompanying them. We will return to school for lunch so
the children do not need to bring a packed lunch unless they normally do so. Drinks will be
provided but you may wish to send your child with their own bottle of water.
They need to be wearing their P.E. kit and also have a comfortable pair of trousers and top (not
school uniform). They also need to have a waterproof coat and a sunhat and sun cream (put on
before they come to school please).
The Reception children will remain at school with Mrs Bailey and Mrs Oakley (Cutcombe Reception
teacher). They will have a fun activity morning with the Cutcombe Reception children.
Thursday 1st July – Area Sports, 1.30 – 2.45pm at Knights Templar School, Watchet
All the juniors and four year 2s will be travelling to Knights Templar for the afternoon of Thursday, 1 st
July. They will compete in the annual Area Sports consisting of flat races, team relays and country
dancing. We will be having a run-off for the year 2s and will inform the parents concerned on Monday.

Timberscombe and Cutcombe C of E First Schools
We need help to transport the children – you are all more than welcome to come and watch and cheer on
the children. Those children who are not collected from Watchet will be brought back to Timberscombe
School for the normal end of the day. Please indicate below if you are able to help drive and your
insurance covers you.
Saturday, 3rd July – School Fair and Dog Show
Looking forward to seeing you all at the Fair on Saturday – a great fun morning with lots to
do, please bring along friends and family to support us – no dog needed! The fair opens at
10.30am, thank you to all the helpers and especially FOTS for organising this successful
annual event.
Monday, 5th July – Arts Week Nature Walk
To mark the start of our Arts Week, organised by Mr White, we will be joining
Cutcombe School for a walk from Timberscombe via the Great Oak to Nutcombe
Bottom. The children will be enjoying various activites on the way and will be
transported back from Nutcombe Bottom in time for the normal end of school.
Wednesday, 7th July – Move up Day
On this day, all the children will move up a school year. The year 4s will be going to their new schools,
the year 3s will become year 4s for the day, the year 2s will come upstairs and be year 3s for the morning,
year 1s become year 2s and year R become 1s. Our new intake of reception children will be joining us for
the morning.
Sunday, 11th July 10.30am – Beacon to Beach Fun Run
This annual event was a great success last year when we competed for the first time.
Please indicate below if you or your child would like to take part in this Rotary Club event.
The 7 mile course is run as a 4-stage relay, starting at Selworthy Beacon, making it’s way
along North Hill, down to Minehead Harbour, along the sea front and finishing in the
grounds of the West Somerset Community College. We can enter teams of 4. For safety’s
sake, I would like to pair each child runner with an adult to accompany them; we will also
need drivers to shuttle children and adults to and from the stages.
Best Wishes
