This is an important message from Paxtonia Elementary School:
In an effort to enhance the pedestrian and vehicle safety on the campus of Paxtonia Elementary School as well as comply
with school visitor protocol, the following changes regarding student drop off/pick up procedures will be in effect starting the
first day of school, Monday, August 31st. This summer, a new traffic lane and ramp were built in an effort to make the
arrival and dismissal process safer for all our students. There will be a new traffic pattern and a few new procedures to
follow. Please review the following changes in preparation for our new procedures and traffic patterns. We truly
appreciate your help and willingness to work with us to make our student drop off and pick up procedures safer.
Our new traffic pattern is as follows: During drop off/pick up times at the beginning/end of the school day, enter the
campus using the entrance that is to the right of the building (if you are facing the building) and proceed to follow the road
through the brand new drop off and pick up loop, which is adjacent to the Cafeteria. During the first week of school, staff
members will help direct traffic through the new loop. Vehicles must maintain a single file through the loop and ramp. No
parking is permitted in the loop/ramp at any time. No left turns will be permitted when exiting the loop. For diagrams and
images of the new loop please visit Paxtonia’s website @ http://www.cdschools.org/Domain/1073
Student Arrival Drop Off Procedures:
 Drop Off Times - 8:40 to 8:55

Enter the drop off/pick up loop

Follow the road to progress through the loop and up the ramp until you reach the Cafeteria entrance (We will have
staff to assist in directing loop traffic the first week of school)

Once your vehicle reaches the end of the loop at the Cafeteria entrance, a staff member will escort your child from
your vehicle to the school. It is imperative that your child be seated on the passenger side of the vehicle to facilitate
this process. We ask that parents do not get out of their car as such actions lengthen the process and create safety
concerns.

Note: Kindergarten P.M. car riders will follow alternate drop off procedures. Kindergarten P.M. car riders will
be dropped off at the front of the building. The traffic loop will be unavailable for use during their arrival due to
schedule school lunches. Please understand that only P.M. Kindergarten arrivals will occur at the front of the
building. All other students will follow the procedures outlined above.
Student Dismissal Pick Up Procedures:
 Pick Up Times - 3:40 to 4:00

Enter the drop off/pick up loop

Follow the road to progress through the loop and up the ramp until you reach the Cafeteria entrance (We will have
staff to assist in directing loop traffic the first week of school)

Once your vehicle reaches the end of the loop at the Cafeteria entrance, you must display your student’s number
(Note: Each family will be issued a card with an assigned number on it. You should receive this card in the mail
along with a notification about our new arrival and dismissal process for car riders. If you did not receive a number,
please contact the office to find out your assigned number. Please understand that NO student will be
dismissed through the car rider process without presentation of the number. Therefore, it is important you
have your number with you when you come to pick up your student(s).)

Once you show your number to the staff members on duty, they will escort your student(s) from the Cafeteria to
your car. We ask that parents DO NOT park or get out of their vehicles as such actions lengthen the process and
create safety concerns.

Note: Pick-up procedures for Kindergarten A.M. will be different. Parents with a student(s) attending A.M.
Kindergarten will be picked up at the front of the building. Parents must STILL display their Mustang Rider Card
when picking up their A.M. Kindergarten students from the front of the building.
The traffic loop will be unavailable for use during their dismissal due to schedule school lunches. Please
understand that only A.M. Kindergarten dismissals will occur at the front of the building. All other students will follow
the procedures outlined above.

Thank you for your understanding and help in this matter. We appreciate your support. We also ask that you please be
cautious of pedestrian traffic at all times. We are hopeful that these changes will aid in the efficiency of the arrival and
dismissal process for our student car riders. Below are some frequently asked questions that may further clarify our new car
rider arrival and dismissal process.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation and patience with these changes.
