Overall purpose of job:
To drive transformational economic change and to lead and implement economic
development and regeneration initiatives, programmes and strategy to deliver a thriving
and prosperous North Lincolnshire.
Post holders will be expected to be flexible in undertaking the duties and responsibilities attached
to their post and may be asked to perform other duties, which reasonably correspond to the
general character of the post and are commensurate with its level of responsibility.
Main responsibilities:
1. To work with businesses and investors to create a world class and thriving economy
for North Lincolnshire and develop the area a Global gateway for business.
2. To prepare and implement a regeneration and economic development strategy to
meet the council’s corporate plans.
3. To advise and provide guidance to the council on all economic and regeneration policy
and matters.
4. To lead and direct development projects and initiatives to deliver economic
development and regeneration.
5. To lead and represent the council on all economic policy with regional and subregional partners, Local Enterprise Partnerships, Government Office Departments,
private investors and developers.
6. To represent the council and maximise opportunities to work jointly with partners to
deliver major programmes to support social enterprises and to develop skills
strategies.
7. To develop and strengthen the council’s economic position within the region and subregion and to ensure that North Lincolnshire’s interests are represented within the
Regional Economic Strategy and city region/sub regional programmes and processes.
8. To raise the profile of North Lincolnshire in European, national and regional forums to
secure long term inward investment benefit.
9. To lead and direct the work of the Planning and Regeneration Service and to meet
corporate strategies and targets within defined budgets.
10. To work with partners and agencies to deliver a skilled and responsive workforce.
11. To develop and assist the growth of social enterprises and the third sector in North
Lincolnshire.

Contacts and relationships:
The post holder will be required to advise and brief the council leadership on all economic
development matters and regeneration issues and also provide regular briefings and
information to a range of business leaders, developers and elected bodies and public/
private partnerships. Regular and immediate responses to economic development
proposals and regeneration initiatives will demand frequent liaison and engagement with:

The post holder will also be required to have occasional direct contact with a number of
European development agencies, EU funding bodies and other European nation states

The post holder will required to regularly attend on-site meetings with developers,
investors and North Lincolnshire businesses and also frequent government and regional
development meetings.
Decision making:
The post holder will be responsible for:

Determining and advising the long-term strategy for business investment, new
infrastructure and business premises provision for North Lincolnshire and for shaping
the future economy of North Lincolnshire. Reporting to North Lincolnshire Council’s
Head of Economic Growth, the post holder will attend Leadership, Board meetings
and Committees as required and oversee the performance and delivery of the
council’s economic strategy.
