Hygroscopic - absorbing moisture readily
Crystalline - Being, relating to, or composed of crystal or crystals
Distilled - The evaporation and collection of a liquid by condensation as a means of purification
Soluble - capable of being dissolved; Solubility: the quality or property of being soluble; relative capability
of being dissolved.
Hydrophilic - readily absorbing moisture
Hydrophobic - repellant of water
Exothermic - ("outside heating") describes a process or reaction that releases energy from the system,
usually in the form of heat, but also in the form of light
Endothermic - endothermic ("within-heating") describes a process or reaction in which the system absorbs
energy from the surroundings in the form of heat
Covalently - The number of electron pairs an atom can share with other atoms
Ion - An ion is an atom or molecule in which the total number of electrons is not equal to the total number
of protons, giving it a net positive or negative electrical charge
Ionically - relating to, or occurring in the form of ions

heated chiefly by an electrical unit in the appliance; a plate that can retain heat in order to keep food hot.
Monosaccharides - a carbohydrate that does not hydrolyze, as glucose, fructose, or ribose, occurring
naturally or obtained by the hydrolysis of glycosides or polysaccharides.
Hydrolyze - chemical decomposition in which a compound is split into other compounds by reacting with
water.
Disaccharides - any of a group of carbohydrates, as sucrose or lactose, that yield monosaccharides on
hydrolysis.
