Shelter Cluster Meeting minutes 30 October, 2015 GIZ meeting Hall, Nuwakot Under the chairman ship of DUDBC Chief (Shelter Coordinator) Mr. Rabindra Bohara, Shelter Cluster meeting was held having discussion on following agenda and some of the actions to be taken were decided. List of participants: Mr. Rabindra Bohra (DUDBC division office Nuwakot) Mr. Surendra Pokhrel (ACF) Mr. Rabi Bhandai (ACF) Mr. Padam Raj Giri ( Carnet Nepal) Mr. Bijaya Kumar Rana (Samartian Purse) Ms. Sujata Nepal (Samartian Purse) Mr. Parvin Tiwari (GIZ) Mr. Goverdhan Sunar (GIZ) Mr. Brad Lucas (World Renew) Mr. Ram Singh Tamang (World Renew) Agenda: 1. Review of the develpment activites conducted in last month and ongoing activities of different organizations related to Shelter. 2. Fuel crisis & sharing of issues and Challenges related to shelter and winterization in nuwakot district. 3. Future planning regarding how to make sheltering work more effective and discussion on some of the approval letter obtained from participants. DUDBC Chief Mr. Rabindra Bohara, updated the current development of NGO/ INGOs activities of development agencies regarding shelter in Nuwakot, following agenda and decision has been made. 1. Topic One: Participant raises issue of fuel shortage and its effects on their ongoing activities in their assigned VDCs. 2. Topic Two: I/NGOs & developemnt agencies participants raised concern of permanet sheltering work, ACF, Samartian, Wold Renew and GIZ collegues draws attention towards winterization work for coming winter season e.g. blanket, warm clothes distribution. Which is delyaing due to fuel crisis. ACF shared idea of winterization distribution through voucher to each household. 3. Topic Three: Mr. Rabindra Bohra shared skill training guidelines of DUDBC 2072 and relief support process. He also informs interested organization to seek permission from DUDBC directly for conducting training in their VDCs, similarly, requested to the interested organization to share their plan to the DUDBC before implementation. GIZ presented letter of request for mason and skill training as per guidelines provided by DUDBC 2072 in Sikre and Samundratar VDCs of Nuwakot district. 4. Topic Two: Mr. Parvin Tiwari from GIZ shared progress and status of hospital and health facilities construction in different VDC of Nuwakot district. 5. Topic Three: Mr. Brad from world renew shared a disccusion during the briefing, NSET will begin delivering Training of Trainers (ToTs) for masons training for Partner Organisation (PO) staff after the festivals, with the first ToT in Kathmandu expected to commence on the 27th/28th October. POs who wish to have staff participate in ToT training delivered by NSET are requested to share the following information with Siobhan Kennedy, tech2.nepal@sheltercluster.org: Actions & decision: 1. Important discussion has been carried out among various development agencies regarding temporary shelter work in different VDCs of Nuwakot district similarly, recommended to implement permanent shelter activities more effectively in coming future. 2. A letter of request from Dayitva, NGO in Nuwakot is recommended to DDRC to seek final permission to distribute 56 bundles CGI to 56 House hold and 1250 meter pipe of 32 mm in ward no. 4 & 9 in Gerkhu VDC. 3. Mr. Rabindra Bohra shared skill training guidelines of DUDBC 2072 to all participants similarly, drew attention towards approaching winter season. A significant discussion has been conducted to implement effective winterization program in district. 4. It is decided to request National Society of Earthquake Technology (NSET) to provide 8 days KALIGAR training in different VDCs and Municipality of Nuwakot district according to earthquake resistant building construction guidelines 2072. 5. Next meeting schedule will be circulated before one week.
