COURSE AIMS
The course will present the main features of the specialized sector languages of
Chinese, starting with the analysis of a diversified range of the text types used to
communicate in specific professional contexts.
COURSE CONTENT
-
The Chinese language and dynamic aspects of the lexicon.
Chengyu, yanyu, xiehouyu, guanyongyu: structural analysis, linguistic and
cultural aspects.
The influence of the grammatical constructions of classical Chinese on modern
Chinese.
Chinese sector languages: lexical and morphosyntactic aspects.
Specialized Chinese texts: types and structural aspects.

The compulsory exam reading list will be communicated in class. Students are invited to

ASSESSMENT METHOD
Final oral exam and continuous assessment in class.
NOTES
Students are strongly encouraged to attend all classes.
To sit the Chinese Language 3 exam (Language and Professional Communication), the
student must first pass the written and the oral language exams (in any order) set for the
corresponding course year.
