Romans 15:13
Dear OLR Families,
Six of our 8th graders received some exciting news this week . . . they received
acceptance notices to attend Moreau Catholic High School in the fall! Congratulations to
Lara Rose Abenojar, Elai De Jose, Selam Ghile, Louie Mascorro, Vincent Nguyen, and
Anthony O’Singh! We are so proud of our 8th grade students and we are confident that
they all will achieve great success in high school!
This week I had an amazing opportunity to lead the 8th graders on a retreat in the
beautiful hills of Lafayette overlooking picturesque Mt. Diablo. This retreat was a special
time for the Class of 2015 to come together in quiet reflection and prayer. The theme for
the retreat was “Living with Courage”, which is so fitting as these young men and women
prepare to embark on a new phase in life – high school. During these three days, the
students listened and shared in discussions about “Courage in Everyday Life”, “Courage
in Christ”, and “The Importance of Prayer.” We also were fortunate to have Father Jesus
join us to celebrate a very special outdoor liturgy. What better way to share our faith than
amidst God’s creations. The students participated in many structured activities and had
plenty of time for play as well. I’d like to thank our teachers, Miss Stricherz and Mr.
Ennis, for their work in making this so memorable for the students. We also thank our
wonderful chaperones, Mrs. Armstrong, Mrs. Abenojar, and Ms. De Jose, for all of their
help and preparing such delicious meals for us. I’m confident that our 8th graders walked
away from this trip feeling inspired trusting that the Lord is with them on this journey every
step of the way.
The plans are now underway for our last major family event of the year – OLR’s First
Annual Fiesta on Saturday, May 2 from 10 – 6 p.m.! So “hold on to your sombreros and
get ready to shake your maracas” at our fiesta/mini-festival benefitting Our Lady of the
Rosary School. We invite all OLR families, parishioners, and guests to join us for a day of
delicious food, tasty drinks, fun games, exciting entertainment, and fun for all! If you are
interested in helping, please join us tomorrow night in the conference room.
Please don’t forget . . . the discounted registration fee of $350 per child for next year will
no longer be available after April 15th. Take advantage of the savings today! Also, if you
refer another family to OLR School, you will receive one FREE registration fee.
Trust in the Lord,
Maureen Christensen
