Main Aims of the Post
The post holder will take the lead on development and project management for the
Salford Personality Disorder Multi Agency Development Service, re-commissioned
for 2014/15 following a successful pilot year funded by NHS Salford Clinical
Commissioning Group.
The service aims to develop strong seamless links between mental health services
and the wider multi-agency system for the benefit of people with Personality Disorder
(PD) by undertaking a liaison, training and awareness-raising function with key
stakeholders (i.e. Police, Probation, A&E, Housing, Drug and Alcohol services,
Children’s Services etc). The service will specifically work to:
 Improve service user experience
 Engage ‘experts by experience’ in training and awareness-raising activity with
multi-agency representatives across public services.
 Challenge stigma and discrimination; improve attitudes and increase
knowledge and awareness of PD in the wider system.
 Work with strategic partners to improve pathways to support for people with
PD
 Reduce transition in people with PD to more costly services such as
secondary mental health care/prisons.
 Develop workforces to become more responsive to personality disorder by
providing leadership and support in the development of service specific
projects
Main duties
1. Lead on the development and implementation of the Personality Disorder Multi
Agency Development Service
2. Develop strong partnerships with key statutory and third sector organisations
to influence and implement service change for the benefit of people with PD in
Salford.
3. Liaise with statutory and third sector organisations to identify and encourage
the participation of ‘PD Champions’ in cascading PD awareness across their
organisations
4. Coordinate regular multi-agency Personality Disorder forums to act as hubs for
PD activity across Salford
5. Market and publicise the programme to a range of agencies and organisations
across the geographical footprint of the project
6. Provide Line Management to the Peer Training & Support Coordinator and
ensure that high quality practice supervision and wellbeing support is provided
to project staff and volunteers
7. Oversee the delivery of a programme of development, awareness raising and
training provision across agencies, including skills-based workshops for frontline practitioners
8. Oversee the recruitment of ‘experts by experience’ to deliver awareness
training to multi-agency representatives (PD Champions) across public
services
9. Manage & record risk incidents according to SHS policy and procedure
10. Contribute to the budgetary management of the project, and ensure effective
financial administration of the project.
11. Ensure delivery of commissioned project to targets, producing monthly,
quarterly and annual service reports and all service performance data
required by commissioners and the Big Life Company.
12. Maintain adequate records as required by existing policies and procedures,
using appropriate paper and electronic systems
