May 4, 2015
Dear Parents of Seniors,
The time for celebrating a major milestone in your child’s life is almost here! We are busy
finalizing details for this momentous occasion.
Caps & Gowns
Caps and gowns were distributed to seniors this morning, Monday, May 4th. Jostens suggests
that to get the wrinkles out, throw the gown in the dryer with a damp cloth for just a few minutes.
It is best to remove the gown from the package and place it on a hanger several days in
advance.
Senior Check-Out
Senior check out begins on Wednesday, May 6 and concludes Friday, May 15. Each senior is
required to complete a check-out form and acquire all appropriate signatures no later than May
16. The check-out form covers such items as locker clean out and inspection, book and material
return, book fines, late homework assignments, and tests that are due. This form must be
completed and returned to the high school office before final grades, diplomas, and transcripts
can be released. Please note that all financial obligations with the CSCS business office must
also be fulfilled as part of the senior check-out process.
Senior Final Exams
Final exams for seniors are scheduled for Wednesday, May 14 through Friday, May 16. Click
Senior Final Exam Schedule and Finals Policy for the exact times. Seniors are only required to
be on campus during their designated testing time. It is imperative that students arrive on time
for finals. Any student who arrives more than 20 minutes late to a scheduled final will take the
exam in the remaining time and receive up to a 50% grade reduction. A student who fails to
show up for a final exam will receive a failing grade on that exam. Click Senior Exam Policy for
the complete Senior Final Exam and Attendance policy
Senior Recognition Night – Thursday, May 21, 7:00 pm


The evening concludes right after the service.
Baccalaureate is for the entire family and friends alike.
The Blessing
The blessing has been a part of the Baccalaureate ceremony since 1998 and is one of the most
meaningful facets of graduation. The “blessing” is an opportunity for parents to share and pray
with their student. Here are some details outlining the event:
 At the conclusion of the Baccalaureate service, the senior class will be directed to form a
circle around the sanctuary. Watch where your senior goes so you may join them when
invited.
 Family members will then be asked to join their student.
 Parents, family, and friends invited by you will share blessings with the graduate
privately in groups around the sanctuary.
 The blessing is generally 3-5 minutes long. Accomplishments, along with hopes and
desires for each student as he/she moves into adulthood, are typically included in the
blessing. It may be written or said in the form of a prayer, a poem, a collection of
thoughts and memories.
 The entire family is welcome to join in this special time.
Graduation – Saturday, May 23, 11:00 am – Rocky Mountain Calvary Chapel
 Seniors are to arrive promptly at 10:00 am at Rocky Mountain Calvary and meet in the
Jr. High Ministries room with their cap, gown, and tassel.
 Dress requirements for senior young ladies: dress shoes, a skirt shorter than the length
of the gown, and a top that does not show above the collar of the gown.
 Dress requirements for senior young men: dress shoes, dark dress pants, and a white
collared dress shirt.
 Blue jeans, shorts, tennis shoes, and flip flops are not allowed.
 Students will NOT BE ALLOWED to decorate their cap or gown in any way.
 Park in the front of the building or on the North side.
 Lobby doors open at 9:00 am and the auditorium doors open at 10:00 am. The only
reserved seating is for Graduates, CSCS faculty, staff, and board members.
 The ceremony typically takes 90 to 100 minutes.
 Students are free to leave as soon as the graduation ceremony is over.
We have enjoyed a wonderful relationship with our venues for several years. Much of the
reason we are invited back each year is because our seniors have been very courteous and
respectful of their facilities. In order to maintain this affiliation for future years, pranks are not
allowed before, during, or after the ceremony.
Professional DVD
Arrangements have been made to record the entire graduation ceremony. The cost for a DVD is
$5.00 each. Order forms (at the bottom of this document) and payment must be turned into the
high school office by Wednesday, May 20. Make checks payable to Rocky Mountain Calvary.
Professional Portraits
A professional photographer will take a picture of each student as he/she is handed the diploma
cover. Prices and order form are attached to this email. You may choose from three different
packages. Order forms and payment must be turned into the high school office by Wednesday,
May 20.
Diplomas
Diplomas are not placed in diploma folders at graduation. A graduation packet containing the
final report card, diploma, immunization record, class picture, DVD and/or graduation pictures,
(if ordered) will be available for pick up in the high school office after Wednesday, June 10.
Summer office hours are Monday through Thursday, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. The completed senior
check-out form must be turned into the high school office and all CSCS accounts must be
cleared by the business office before packets will be released.
Due to the fact that many of our international seniors will be leaving the country shortly after
graduation, we will have their Graduation Packets ready for them to pick up immediately
following the graduation ceremony at Rocky Mountain Calvary. Please see Mrs. Kneram before
leaving the building that day. If you do not pick up your packet at that time, you will need to call
the high school office at 719-535-2727 to set an appointment to pick it up. Keep in mind that
Monday, May 25 is a holiday and the office will be closed.
Final Transcripts
All colleges require a final transcript prior to official acceptance to their institutions. If your senior
has not yet completed a Final Transcript Request form, he/she needs to see Mrs. Kneram in the
high school office. Transcripts will be mailed when check-out forms are complete and all
accounts are clear in the business office.
Campus Pranks and Security
In the past, we have had some unfortunate experiences with seniors who were intent on
vandalizing the school building as a senior prank. Let me convey to the seniors that they risk
losing the privilege of participating in Baccalaureate and Graduation exercises should they
choose to engage in any kind of prank or vandalism. I am confident that this will not be a
problem with this graduating class.
I am excited to celebrate Graduation with your senior and you. My prayer is that your young
man or young woman will finish strong and are ready to enter the next chapter of his/her life.
In Christ,
Tami Bultje,
High School Principal
