HUNTER DERBY DESCRIPTION- Designed by a hired professional.
ACCEPTED DRESS: Traditional Hunter attire including Shadbellies.
ENTRY FEE: $35.
MUST ENTER Warm Up Classes prior to each Derby-$15

EMBROIDERED PRIZES FOR CHAMPIONS AND RESERVE CHAMPIONS
The Derby will be held in a beautiful grass arena and will contain 8-10 Very unique natural
fences. Competitors may choose to jump the option fences and gain extra points (1-5). Option
jumps will be higher fences, tighter turns, more interesting and more challenging.
Mini Derby riders only, may school over each jump once. Schooling passes will be given out and
will be run by a derby ring steward. 3’ Derby riders may briefly trot around fences.
First Round- Judged as a classic hunter round, assigning a numerical value which reflects the
performance of a good hunter pace throughout the course, horses movement, jumping style,
quality and substance. Top Riders will be called back for second round.
Second Round- Judged as a handy hunter course starting with the basic numerical score, but
the emphasis will be on the horse’s pace and handiness. May contain trot
fences and clever approaches to fences for extra points
(T.I.P)-THE JOCKEY CLUB THOROUBRED INCENTIVE PROGRAM
To encourage the retraining of Thoroughbreds into other disciplines upon completion of careers
in racing or breeding, The Jockey Club is proud to announce the Thoroughbred Incentive
Program (T.I.P.). T.I.P. offers sponsorship for Thoroughbred-only classes and divisions, high
point Thoroughbred awards at open horse shows and competitions, a Thoroughbred of the Year
Award and a Young Rider of the Year Award.
Eligibility
For purposes of eligibility for all T.I.P. classes and awards, a "Thoroughbred" is defined as any
horse that has been registered with The Jockey Club or a foreign Thoroughbred stud book
approved by The Jockey Club and the International Stud Book Committee. All horse shows must
require riders to verify registration on the day of the horse show through one of the following
methods:


T.I.P. Number Card; or
Completed T.I.P. Number request form and one of the following

The Jockey Club Certificate of Foal Registration (or similar document from a foreign
o
stud book) or a copy thereof; OR
The horse's lip tattoo, the horse's 5-cross pedigree and the successful tattoo lookup
result from The Jockey Club's Tattoo Identification Services, (located at
registry.jockeyclub.com); ORA letter from The Jockey Club verifying the horse's
identity
