SOFT DRINKS
Our coffee and tea is supplied by Matthew Algie of Glasgow.
They have been trading since 1864 when Matthew Algie himself
purchased tea from the Clyde Clippers to sell at his market stall
in Glasgow. After his death in 1902, the company continued to
supply tea and spices to Scottish retailers and during the 1950’s
took the huge step of introducing Coffee to post-war Scotland.
It was in the early 90’s that David Williamson, a descendant of
Matthew Algie, visited Portland, Oregon in the USA. He returned
with a vision and restructured the company to drive the
espresso revolution in the UK!
Strathmore Still or Sparkling Mineral Water
In Ochiltree’s Dining we use the Kingsley Blend. It is sweet and
ripe with dried fruit flavours. Its beans are 100% Arabica and
Fairtrade and originate from Ethiopia, DR Congo and Indonesia
(Sumatra). It is delivered within a week of roasting to guarantee
amazing aroma and flavour. The name is taken from Dr Mary
Kingsley, a scientific writer and explorer who travelled
extensively throughout West Africa, and whose work helped
change and shape European perceptions towards African
cultures.
