The Breeders Cup Halter Futurity

Purpose:

To promote the breeding of quality halter horses that will be marketable in today’s horse industry and to create an event that is appealing to the general public.

Amateur Division: (Youth are eligible except for yearling stallion class)

The B.C.H.F Amateur division is for foals of any breed sired by Stallions nominated by the following slot owners only.

Futurities Offered:

Weanling Divisions:

There will be two (2) classes offered. Weanling fillies and weanling colts, stallions and geldings will show together as weanlings.

Nomination and Pre-entry is required to show. See nomination and entry schedule below.

-An additional bonus will be given to the top three placing Junior Babies, Owner/Breeder/Exhibitor and the top three placing Youth exhibitors in both classes as follows: 1 st $2,500 2 nd $1,500 3 rd $1,000, regardless of their overall placing.

Yearling Division: (Starting in 2012)

There will be three (3) classes offered - Yearling Stallions, Mares and Geldings. Nomination and Pre-entry is required to show. See nomination and entry schedule below.

Yearling Eligibility

-All of the weanlings that finish in the money in the baby classes (open or amateur) are ineligible to show in the B.C.H.F. yearling classes.

-Yearlings cannot have won an AQHA World or Reserve World title in Open, Amateur, Select, or Youth.

NO WEANLINGS OR YEARLINGS OWNED BY ANY STALLION OWNER WILL BE ELIGIBLE TO SHOW. HORSES SOLD BY STALLION

OWNERS ARE ELIGIBLE TO SHOW BUT THE SHOW MANAGEMENT MAY REQUEST PROOF OF LEGITIMATE TRANSFER AND A

CLEAR CHECK!

All horses shown in any class must have registration papers.

Exhibitor Eligibility:

-In order to show in any B.C.H.F. amateur class you must be an Amateur/Owner or Youth/Owner holding a current AQHA,

APHA, PHBA, PtHA or ApHC Amateur or Youth Membership and must furnish a copy of the card at time of pre-entry in the

Futurity and at the B.C.H.F.

-If you have won three World Championships with AQHA (Amateur, Select, or Youth) in the last five years you are ineligible to show.

-The winning Exhibitor of each class is not eligible to show in that class the following year (ex. If a participant wins the weanling filly class, the next year they cannot show in the weanling filly class but they are eligible to show in the other classes).

-NO professional coaching (This will be STRICLTLY enforced)

-NO stallion Owner, Owner’s family members, employee, or employee’s family members are eligible to show.

-There will be random drug testing.

Nomination Schedule

Weanlings

$200 nomination fee within 60 days of foaling

Or the late nomination fee of $300 is due June 1 st .

Yearlings:

To be eligible to show in the yearling classes you must nominate foals as a weanling and pay a second nomination fee of $200 their yearling year by March 1 st .

Entry Fee Schedule (at the time of Entry owner must declare if foal will be shown in either Open or Amateur)

Weanlings:

If in by July 15th: $400

Late entry September 1 st : $800

Yearlings:

If in by July 15 th : $400

Late entry September 1st: $800

Guaranteed Added Purse: Weanling Classes $125,000, Yearling Classes $125,000

Distribution of Purses:

1 st place - 22%

2 nd place- 16%

3 rd place- 12%

4 th place- 11%

5 th place- 9%

6 th place- 8%

7 th place- 7%

8 th place- 6%

9 th place- 5%

10 th place- 4%

Open Division:

The B.C.H.F. Open division is open to any and all stallions that are nominated. Stallions can be nominated by paying the $5,000 dollar nomination fee, which makes all of their foals eligible to compete in the open classes. Stallion nomination fees will be accepted no later than February 1 st of each year.

-The Open classes are open to all exhibitors!

-There will be two classes offered: Weanling Mares and Weanling Colts (Stallions and Geldings show together)

-The Distribution of purse will be the same as the Amateur Classes.

-Entry Fee schedule will be the same as the Amateur Classes.

-There will be no nomination fee for the open classes.

-The Open classes are for Stallions and Foals of any breed.

Credit/Refunds/Substitutions/Payment Methods:

If you have a paid entry on a weanling or yearling and choose to sell before the futurity the entry can be transferred to a new eligible owner/exhibitor for a $75 change fee. In the event of the death of a weanling or yearling that has a paid entry the owner will be allowed to substitute another nominated eligible horse in its place. There will be no refunds. Payments can be made by check or credit card.

Any rules herewith can be changed, added to, or denied at the discretion of the Futurity Committee. The B.C.H.F. will have the final word in interpreting or supplementing the rules and conditions of the Futurity if the need arises.
