Prerequisites: 4477 or concurrent
No required text book, however, you will be required to purchase some materials for
projects.
Course Objective: Clinical Application of Speech-Language Pathology is designed to
give students an opportunity to learn basic, functional, practical application of underlying
skills to promote success in speech-language therapy sessions.
Class Requirements:
1. Attendance- Students must follow the College of Arts and Sciences policy: “To
earn course credit in the College of Arts and Sciences, a student must attend at
least 75% of all scheduled class meetings. Any student who does not meet this
minimal standard will automatically receive a grade of ‘F’ in the course.” You
are expected to attend class however, in the event you are unable to attend a class
session, it is your responsibility to obtain class notes and/or handouts from
another student. You are expected to turn in assignments on time.
2. Students will be required to complete 2 clinical related projects. This may include
a Children’s Book Project, and a Treatment/Lesson Plan Project related to specific
treatment. Each project will count 25% of your grade.
3. There will be a class presentation counting 20 % of your grade.
4. You will be required to put together a “Therapy Kit” which will count 15% of
your grade.
5. You will also be given a class participation grade which counts 15% of your total
grade. This grade will be determined by participation in hands-on learning
activities and daily class assignments which will be completed during class time. I
point system will be used to determine your class participation grade.

Goals for Class:
1. Students will gain practice in language sampling, and report writing. IV B
2. Students will experience the basic clinical procedures of a speech-language
evaluation and treatment session utilizing case studies and video recordings. IIICG
3. Students will practice data collection and writing daily logs. IV B
