Decatur, GA- Partners in Action for Healthy Living (PAHL), Inc. is hosting a very special
Healthy Belvedere Community Forum on Tuesday, June 11th 2013. The community is
invited to gather for the event at Knollwood Elementary School (3039 Santa Monica
Drive, Decatur 30032) from 6:00pm to 8:00pm to work on important community issues.
The Forum is free to the community. Healthy dinner and refreshments will be provided.
This is a very special Community Forum that will focus on gathering resident input for
the DeKalb Sustainable Neighborhood
Initiative (DSNI). The DSNI is a multiyear process intended to raise the
quality of life for residents of South
DeKalb. The “Towers Cluster” is one of
seven areas targeted for the DSNI.
Any resident of the area that feeds
Towers High School is part of the
“Towers Cluster” which includes the
area bordered by Memorial Drive to
Candler Road to Glenwood Avenue to
I285 to I20 to the area east of South
Hairston back to I285. All residents of
that area are invited to participate in the
Community Forum.
The first step of the DeKalb Sustainable Neighborhood Initiative (DSNI) is already
underway in the Towers Cluster. Emory Community Building and Social Change
Fellows are creating a Quality of Life plan that is based on community input and need.
The Fellows will be at the Forum to talk about the DSNI and to conduct some fun
activities to gather residents input and ideas for the Quality of Life plan. The Quality of
Life plan will include strategies for addressing neighborhood issues identified by
residents and other stakeholders. The implementation phase will begin next year.
The Community Forum will begin at 6:00pm with dinner and fellowship then proceed
with DSNI activities. It is a special opportunity to contribute to the Quality of Life plan
that will impact neighborhoods in the Towers area. The Forum is a time for the
community to work together on neighborhood issues that impact the quality of life for
all residents.
