Hello
CONTACTING STAFF BY EMAIL
The children continue to impress me with their
hard work and excellent attitude to learning.
I am so pleased to report that our writing across
the school is the best it has ever been. Please
ask your child’s teacher for a chance to read
some of the work- you will be amazed.
Reading progress is also good, the recent
Reading Eggs homework and focus on
comprehension skills in class is having a positive
impact in all year groups. Thank you for
supporting us in encouraging your child to read
at home, you are making a real difference!
Deansbrook Junior School is such a good school
and a place I feel proud to work in every day.
Your children are incredible and inspirational to
work with and any visitors to our school are
always so complementary about how the children
behave in class and the playground.
Please feel free to email your child’s teacher if
you have a concern or question. Use the office
email address and type the name of the teacher
in the message bar

WINTER PE KIT
Children should wear jogging bottoms and a
jumper for outdoor PE session. Trainers are also
essential for outdoor lessons.
INSTAGRAM WARNING
More and more children are having access to
smart phones that access the internet. These
phones are often not set up to have parental
controls on them. In a matter of two clicks your
child can be accessing very inappropriate
material and be chatting with/sharing
information with strangers. The Metropolitan
Police have sent a letter to all schools reminding
parents about the alarming trend in children
sharing information on Instagram, including
children uploading images of themselves which
can then be shared across the whole site. I am
asking you to discuss with your child how they
keep themselves safe when using their smart
phone and how they use social media sites. We
have information about e-safety on our school
website and the police have information on
internet safety on http://ceop.police.uk/
It is a brilliant site, click on the Parents section
and there is a great section on how to block
inappropriate material and how to discuss these
issues with your child.
HELP OUR LIBRARY!
Is anyone interested in helping maintain our
library, in exchange for free tea or coffee and
biscuits, we need a volunteer or two to help tidy
and organise our lovely library. Please contact
the office if you are interested.
WORLD BOOK DAY!
Remember that next Thursday 5th March, we are
celebrating World Book Day – children are
expected to come to school dressed as their
favourite book character and bring in their
favourite book. There are prizes for the best
costume for a boy and girl in each class. To
qualify the children must be dressed up and have
their favourite book with them.
