Atos successfully partners with the first Australian
Government Organisation to achieve ISO
20000:2011 recertification for its IT Service
Management System
Melbourne, 21 March 2013 - Since the project inception in March 2012, Atos, an
international IT services company, has been engaged by the Logistics Business
Improvement Team (LBIT) as the implementation partner to assist the Logistics
Systems Program Office (LOGSPO) to become the first Australian Government
Organisation to achieve ISO 20000:2011 re-certification for its IT Service
Management System. This broad ranging project was designed to meet the
business challenges of LOGSPO and its employees in providing Logistics Systems
sustainment services to their customers whilst transitioning from ITIL v2 to ITIL
v3 as part of their ISO 20000:2011 re-certification journey.
A key deliverable of this project was the development of a visual representation of the
LOGSPO IT Service Management System inclusive of governance and organizational
interfaces, the service management framework itself and its underpinning processes. With
that structure in place, LOGSPO was then able to seamlessly identify the processes that
were implemented and also assign and distribute ownership of those processes to the
relevant staff. The re-development and transformation of the LOGSPO Service Catalogue
to a more mature ITIL v3 based model was also a critical achievement of this project.
In addition to addressing the underlying technological and process challenges, the key to
success for this project has been the collaborative approach between Atos and LOGSPO at
all three levels – strategic, tactical and operational to align with the project vision of
simplification and strengthening of the LOGSPO procedural framework to cater for the
complexity of the organisation, allowing process owners to have the autonomy they need.
Victor Ekladious, Director Logistics Business Improvement Team at LOGSPO: “Although we
were certified to the ISO20000 standard in 2009, the requirement to adopt to the new
standard in 2012 was significant. The team from Atos provided support and advice on
industry best practice for document control, process development and organizational
change management to ensure the methodology was adopted.”
Steve Conolly, Managing Director at Atos in Australia: “Atos is delighted to be able to
assist LOGSPO to achieve this challenging and worthy milestone. I’m proud of the
achievements made by the highly skilled business technologists in supporting LOGSPO
including the project managers, ITSM advisory consultants and business intelligence
experts .”
