Lunalpina Farm
Lunalpina is a Creative Environmental Education little Farm which aims to promote ecological
sensitivity and social awareness.
Lunalpina interested in:
- Ecology as finding a good balance between human and natural environment
- Social field as a research of a good relationship between individual and community
The crops
Lunalpina crops are entirely organic and aimed for family consumption and for the groups who are
welcomed
Lunalpina promotes: organic agriculture; cultivation of native plants; value of biodiversity
At Lunalpina you can find: vegetables, cereals (maize, rye, barley, buckwheat, ..) and fruits.
The Animals
Donkeys and horses contribute to the preservation of the territory into clean fields and grasses.
Hens keeping clean producing eggs. Dogs and cats take part to the harmony of the farm. Many wild
animals (deer, badgers, weasels, foxes, eagles.) keep alive the particular ecosystem
Activity
Lunalpina proposes a lifestyle that seeks to be sustainable and in balance with the natural
environment, trying to reconcile the needs of people with those of nature.
Lunalpina offers activities for: Children, Young, Adults, Community.
Humus Association
Humus is a nonprofit association that cooperates with Lunalpina to promote social and educational
activities through the use of artistic and theatrical methodologies for youth and citizenship. It
organizes stages, trainings, cultural activities, festivals and events.
Theeco-schooland the project“Oikos”
In the spring of 2012 we opened a new building, which was previously used as a school for children.
The renovated school is now used as a space to carry out environmental and educational activities
and host groups.
“Oikos” is the name of the project aimed at developing activities for young people, adults and the
whole citizens to promote a ecological and environmental vision.
Place
The farm Lunalpina is 300 meters far from the Eco school. The area of "Gatti" village (300
inhabitants) is located 800 meters above sea level with nearly flat meadows and a beautiful view
over the valley. Gatti village is away from the town of Sondrio 6 km (bus service).
The surrounding area offers many attractions from different points of view:
archaeological;historical, naturalistic, agricultural, ethnographic and geologic.
Description of the activities of the volunteers:
Volunteers are required skills for practical work, (simple farmingworkin the vegetable garden,
harvesting hay, animals care, ---) and a predisposition for social and educational work in contact
with children.
During the project, in addition to the work of agricultural practices, social and educational activities
are planned for different age groups such as:




Training addressed to adults (on agriculture, cooking, furnace construction, etc)
workshop for children
meetings and conferences
celebration of the community
The activities include the following tasks:
- working in the farm (harvest, cleaning vegetable garden, take care to the animals);
- when there are activities with children: help the educator to take care to the children
- collaborate in cooking and service at table;
- clean and collaborate to the common works
- participate to the activities with groups of children: excursions, visits.
The volunteer will acquire a relevant knowledge in the field of ecology, education and activities for
the development of the community.
Accommodation
The volunteers will stay at the renovated building of the Eco school.
Free Time
There are beautiful mountains for hiking.
Sondrio, the capital city is located 6 km with bus service. In the village there are 2 bars, a grocery
store, school children and church.
