Personal Profile:
I am a British citizen with dual Dutch nationality and speak Dutch fluently. My late father was a British Caledonian
and British Airways senior captain, with 34 years of service, and my mother is of Dutch nationality. My maternal
grandfather worked for Shell, firstly in London, and later as sales manager in the Far East. I have recently graduated from
Royal Holloway with a BSc in Geology.
I am currently working as a waiter and barman at the Powdermills Hotel in Battle, as an events manager and
promoter for Cluboid and Capital A-List, and as a delivery driver for Domino’s Pizza. My long term goal is to work as a field
and exploration geologist for an oil or mining company, or work in planetary geology and astrophysics. I have always shown
interest in geology and related fields of scientific research such as astrophysics and, more loosely related, the structure and
origin of the universe, which has fascinated me since I was a child. As a field geologist I must be willing to go to isolated
places anywhere in the world, and walk all kinds of terrain. I enjoy travelling and trekking through the outback so would be
prepared for this.
I spent one month in the Spanish Pyrenees, Murillo de Gallego, mapping 25 square kilometres for my
independent third year mapping project, which involved our own interpretation of the underlying stratigraphy and
geological history. I found this very enjoyable, interesting and motivating which gave me the confidence to do more.
I have some experience in construction and building work as I assisted in the renovation of a barn house into a
gite in the south of France. Carpentry and construction such as this has always been an interest of mine. After my father
retired he spent a few years as a builder with his own small company.
My personal interests, aside from geology being an interest as well as a career prospect, are motorsport, hunting,
tennis, golf, football, music, photography and film. I played in the second tennis team at The King’s School Canterbury in
my last two years. I am also very much an avid cook and have created a few of my own recipes.


Integrity – Working as a barman and delivery driver I have had to deal with large quantities of cash, tills and be
responsible for counting cash floats at the end of service.
