TOPIC: “TO REACH FOR YOUR DREAMS, YOU FIRST HAVE TO ROLL UP
YOUR SLEEVES” presented by Aaron Ackerman of Bowers+
Kubota
The Living Building Challenge is a demonstration project and experiment which seeks to discover if a typical
Hawaii single family dwelling, located in an urban zone and not out in the country, can legally achieve what
was once common place of the people of Hawaii long ago – the ability to live 100% off of the land. Come hear
the architect’s entertaining and interesting story how through this demonstration project we can show that
we can create beautiful work from Hawaii’s construction waste if we are thoughtful and willing to partner as a
community.
