D-C Music Boosters Parent Meeting Minutes
Monday, January 12th, 2015 / 7:00pm / DCHS Choir Room
For All 7th-12th Grade Music Parents
Music Program Reports: Smaller group this evening compared with last Parent Meeting. Mr. Veith spoke tonight as other
instructors unable to attend.




Zan Thrasher (unable to attend)
o
MS Music: Talked about past and upcoming concerts.
o
Honor Choirs: Honor Choirs attended by some of the Middle School students.
Michael Smith (unable to attend)
o
MS Jazz Band: This intro to Jazz Band is offered through Community Ed.
o
HS Jazz Band: Jazz Band Contest April 20, 2015.
Nate Raabe (unable to attend)
o
HS Vocal Music: Preparing for Contest.
o
Travel: Trip to Chicago with Band and Choir students performing. Asked for chaperones to sign up tonight (requested to pay for
50% of their trip cost.) Must be a 10-12 grade student parent. Need 10 parents for sure. Mr Veith and Mr Raabe will make the final
decision on chaperones. Tickets for shows and tour have been obtained. Master Classes as well as choir performance at large
church downtown Chicago as well as Band performance at Museum of Science and Industry and possibly another site have been
planned.

Choir Robes: Ordered.
o
Dorian: Director-Nominated. This event is being held at Luther College right now.
o
HS Chamber Choir: Performing out in the community. Will perform at Solo and Ensemble Contest at Buffalo HS on Friday, April 10,
2015. Currently not officially recognized as an activity.
Brian Veith
o
HS Instrumental Music: Focusing on Concert Feb 27 and Contest March 2. Working on Chicago Music now.
o
Marching Band: Grades 7-12 have gotten music. Feb 27 Commitment. Practices start Weds March 4, 2015.
o
Drumline: Watch email for updates. Homeshow is January 31 at 6pm. Still requesting volunteer help.
DC Music Booster Reports:


Treasurer’s Report: (Jennie Inselman)

Account Updates: $20,000.00 in bank but need to pay out $13,000.00. Have not raised enough through fundraising to date.
$7800.00 of $13,000.00 needed. Schwann’s fundraiser has been somewhat confusing. We may need to do another fundraiser.
o
Student Balances for Travel: Next payment due January 16, 2015. Have paid $30,000.00 to travel agent so far. Please mail
checks-only directly to D-C Music Boosters/PO Box 242/Dassel, MN 55325. Drumline payment letters have been mailed to update
families.
o
Tax Status: We are now a 501C3, so all donations to D-C Music Boosters are tax deductible.
Fundraising: We need ideas! Discussed where donations typically have come from. We have had a couple of parents volunteer to do grant
writing. Discussed ideas for fundraising.
Questions, Concerns: No issues raised during Open Floor. Contact instructors with any concerns.
