An Earth Day Art Celebration of Water in our World
The William King Museum invites young artists to submit their work for our Every Drop Counts!
exhibition in our Student Gallery. In conjunction with Sustain Abingdon’s Earth Day Celebration, William
King Museum will host the exhibition from March 1st through April 30th. Prizes will be awarded at the
Abingdon Earth Day Celebration at The Fields-Penn House on Saturday, April 26, 2014. This year, Sustain
Abingdon’s Earth Day theme is “water,” children are encouraged to use this theme as inspiration for
their artwork.
Submission Guidelines:
Work should be original. No kits, tracings, pre-drawn or copied work accepted. Work must have been
created in the last year. Either 2 or 3 dimensional work is acceptable in any medium. 3D entries should
be freestanding and stable. 2D entries should not exceed 40" on each side, including mat and/or frame.
Each piece should be clearly marked with the artist's name. Work should be framed, matted, or
mounted with a hanging device on back. Participants should have parental permission to enter the
show.
All artwork must be delivered to William King Museum no later than 5:00 pm on Tuesday, February
25, 2014.
Prizes will be awarded to children in each age group based on creativity, theme, and overall composition
.
William King Museum Education staff has complete discretion in hanging the show. Space
considerations may limit the entries exhibited. All work must hang for the duration of the show. Artwork
will be handled carefully; however, the museum will not be responsible for damage or loss.
Artwork may be picked up during William King Museum regular business hours between April 29 and
May 2nd. Any work not picked up by 4 p.m. on May 2 will become property of the museum, unless prior
arrangements have been made with the WKM staff.
