Cardio Kickboxing Assessment (40pts)

May be done with 1 partner or alone. Your decision. No groups of 3 or more. Sorry!
Requirements: Choose one of the three assignments listed below:
1. Essay: Intro, body, conclusion
a. Background of kickboxing, including history and uses
b. Current uses of kickboxing, including cardio kickboxing
i. Differences in kickboxing vs. cardio kickboxing
ii. Benefits of cardio kickboxing (at least 2)
c. Your opinion with regards to cardio kickboxing as a fitness routine. Explain your reasons as to why you
“like” or “dislike” it.
2. Essay: Intro, Body, Conclusion
a. 2 Uses of kickboxing
b. Different punch/kick techniques explained (at least 4)…
i. How are they performed properly?
ii. What/When are they used?
c. Your opinion with regards to:
i. Techniques and how they are used in a fitness routine
ii. Benefits of Cardio-kickboxing (at least 2)
3. Routine/Reflection: Design a fitness routine using the information that you gathered during your research with
regards to cardio kickboxing, its benefits and techniques used.
a. Explain the importance of a warm up and why it is done before any routine
b. Chart out your routine and explain:
i. the proper techniques involved with the movements
ii. why you selected these moves to be incorporated within the routine.
iii. the benefits of this arrangement of moves
c. Explain the importance of a cool down after the routine and why it is necessary to be performed.
d. Explain why you chose this workout…
Assessment Expectations:



Complete sentences, fluency in writing.
Answer all segments of assignment YOU chose.
Cite references, just as you do in English.
Grading: (40pts Total)




Assignment is complete, typed and on time. 10 pts.
Facts covered and explained in detail, routine (#2) clearly mapped out – 15pts.
Personal reflection (opinions, explanations of your choice) – 10 pts.
Citations – (from at least 2 sources) – 5 pts.

 Include citations within project where appropriate.
