IT Academy Stipend Programme for
PhD students of Information and CommunicationTechnology
of Tallinn University of Technology
The following is based on the contract number 7-1.1/2-14 signed by the Tallinn University of
Technology and the Information Technology Foundation for Education (ITFE) on April 10, 2014.
1. The stipend is open to applicants from among all Information and Communication Technology
PhD students who study with full load (henceforth referred to as PhD students).
2. The amount and recipients will be determined by the Stipends Committee at the start of each
semester. The stipend is awarded once a year for ten months (September to June). The amount
in 2014/2015 is €400 per month.

In order to apply for the stipend, a motivated application letter (see annex 1) together with the
supervisor’s recommendation letter should be sent to the Dean’s Office at Faculty of Information
Technology (hard copy) or e-mailed to ita-stipendium@cs.ttu.ee by the 30th of September at the
latest.

The recipients of the stipend will be notified by e-mail latest by the 15th of October. The Stipend
will be paid by the last work day of the month it is paid for at the latest, except the amount for
September, which will be paid in October.
5. When deciding on the stipends, the Stipends Commitee will consider the applicants’ contribution
to teaching in the stipend’s period (eg giving lectures and supervising workshops and lab classes,
preparing and developing study materials, final thesis supervision etc), the level of completion of
the final theses and the supervisor’s opinion. The PhD stupents with higher level of completion
of the final theses and/or higher contribution to teaching work, will be advantaged.
6. The stipend is not paid for more than one nominal duration of the appropriate syllabus.
7. If the PhD student is exmatriculated or goes on academic leave, the payment of the stipend will
be stopped from the month following either exmatriculation or the start of the academic leave.
8. PhD Students who are granted with the IT Academy stipend are required to refer to the IT
Academy Programme in all publications and presentations related to their studies. Failure to
comply with these requirements will be regarded as violation of the programme’s publicity
notification requirements.

Please describe, have you applied for and/or received scholarships from other programmes (e.g DoRa, Tiger
University, ICT doctoral school etc)!
