Diabetes Programme 2014 for GPs and Practice Nurses,
Hertfordshire
The MERITTM Programme for 2014 has been developed in collaboration with the
Diabetes Specialist team, Herts Community NHS Trust and Novo Nordisk Ltd
The aim of the programme is to support the development of skills and competency in the
management of Type 2 Diabetes in the primary care setting.
What is the MERITTM programme?
MERIT™ (Meeting Educational Requirements Improving Treatment) is a flexible programme, developed by
Novo Nordisk. MERIT™ supports the Skills for Health Diabetes Competency Framework and is for all
primary care healthcare professionals.
It consists of classroom-based education designed to provide delegates with the theory required to support
diabetes management followed by the provision of tailored clinical support from specialist diabetes nurses
to help delegates consolidate the theory into practice. It is recommended that GP and Practice Nurse
colleagues attend together to maximise learning opportunities back in Practice.
