The Maxine Hallworth GKT Rugby Scholarship is available to student rugby players who are beginning their
studies at King’s in 2013/14. The scholarship consists of £1,000 awarded to a first year medical or dental student
who has demonstrated potential merit both on the rugby pitch and in their studies both prior to and during their
first term of College. The scholarship aims to allow the selected student to continue excelling while at College,
both on the pitch and off, and hopes to ensure top rugby players choose to attend King’s
This scholarship has been made possible by Dr Terence Gibson (Guy’s, Medicine, 1966 & President of the GKT
Rugby Club) and is named in memory of his daughter Maxine, who was a keen rugby supporter. The scholarship
fund has also been supported by Guy’s alumni who have generously contributed towards this new initiative which
aims to help maintain rugby at the Health Schools. £30,000 was raised towards the fund and it has been awarded
since 2007.
