2016 SSA info letter

Greetings Stallion Owner!
It is once again time for the beginning of the RMBA Stallion Service Auction (SSA). We’re looking to fill the stallion slots
with the same great quality we see every year.
The benefits of enrolling your stallion in the SSA include a whole year of advertising on the RMBA website at
www.montanarmba.org; all other RMBA promotions; coverage in The Wrangler, the official newsletter publication of the
RMBA; and Facebook promotion of each stallion. We are aiming to make this Stallion Service Auction and the
representation provided for the entire SSA program one of the breeding highlights in the region.
Eligible stallion breeds: as we have opened up our by-laws to state that any breed may join, our SSA will expand to reflect
those changes, although as we are still a ranch- and performance-type association, it would be most practical for that type
of stallion specifically to nominate. The only criteria is that you must be an RMBA member for that current year (2016).
Stallion service donations are for the value of the breeding only, mare owners will then be responsible for chute fees,
shipped semen costs, mare care, or any other associated costs for breeding. Be sure to accurately declare them, to save
any misunderstandings later on. If you state that you offer shipped semen, please make sure you have done your
homework regarding collection and shipping fees. When writing up the information on your stallion, please include his
accomplishments or what he is used for and all offspring accomplishments. A current photo or action shot in competition
helps catch mare owners’ eyes. You are promoting YOUR stallion – take full advantage to spotlight him!
The stallion owner may put qualifiers on potential mares. Some examples could be: mares required to be halter broke, vet
check/current on shots, requiring all mares be of a certain breed and/or bloodline(s), suitable attitude of the mare or
required photo of mare for approval before bidding.
The bidding will take place on the RMBA website at www.montanarmba.org under the Stallion Service Auction tab.
Interested parties can scroll down the list of stallions and their photos. Additional information is available by clicking on the
horse’s photo. The initial bidding starts on January 15, 2016 and is for 50% of the advertised breeding fee.
To get you started…
If you haven’t updated your stallion’s information in a while, include accomplishments that the stallion has done since the
last update. Don’t forget the value of sharing what the offspring have done or won. Did you change your breeding fee,
mare care, or chute fee? Do you have a new photo? Has he been tested/vaccinated for EVA? Have you gotten the
results back on the 5-Way Genetics testing and would like that on your page?
How about marketing? Did you add a website? What about email or even a Facebook page? If you don’t have a website,
consider writing up your own page and having it posted under the “Breeder’s Profile” section of the RMBA website.
To participate in the SSA or to update your stallion’s page on the website, contact Kristy Sheehan at (406) 396-2415,
email at info@montanarmba.org, or mail to PO Box 422 Plains, Montana 59859. Kristy can get you set up with a form to
complete that lists information.
Let RMBA help and be one of your top marketing tools!
We truly appreciate your participation in our Stallion Service Auction program. Thank you for your support of the RMBA.
