“The Raising of America” is coming! Watch the Signature Hour in the series on Thursday,
November 5, at 9 p.m. on Rocky Mountain PBS
“The Raising of America” is a five-part series about important issues in early childhood and
the challenges facing young families in America today. Rocky Mountain PBS will broadcast
the signature episode Thursday, Nov. 5 at 9 p.m. with the support of The Colorado Health
Foundation, Community First Foundation, David and Laura Merage Foundation and Rose
Community Foundation.
The Raising of America is a five-part documentary series that explores the question Why
are so many children in America faring so poorly? What are the consequences for the
nation’s future? How might we, as a nation, do better? The series investigates these
questions through different lenses: What does science tell us about the enduring importance
of early life experiences on the brain and body? What it is like to be a parent today? And
what policies and structures help or hinder the raising of healthy, happy and compassionate
children? The Signature Hour covers all three of these issues.
In collaboration with the member organizations of Early Childhood Colorado Partnership,
Rocky Mountain PBS has held screenings of the signature episode and other segments in
the series around the State of Colorado and online. At each of these conversations,
organizers have raised questions about how these issues are playing out in our own
communities. What assets and challenges exist in ensuring that outcomes for Colorado’s
youngest residents are as strong as we can make them?
In addition to the Nov. 5 episode, Rocky Mountain PBS will broadcast the full series in
January 2016. It will air on the following dates:
